khan has to fight the perfect fight as he hasnt got a chin

spent the night watching khan and maidanas fights and its clear that khan has bascially no punch resistance.

willie limond a lightweight with no punch at all knocked khan down and a shot gomez who is a super featherweight knocked khan down with a nothing shot.

now freddy roach has improved khans boxing ability but he cant improve his chin....when khan gets hit his legs instantly buckle , his punch resistance is terrible.

maidana is a big puncher who throws wild punches , much slower than khan but fast enough to catch him with 1 big blow.

prescott wasnt that fast and he wobbled khan with a jab , yes a jab before knocking him out in a round.

unless khan runs all night using speed to keep him away from maidana then i only see one winner , he has to fight the perfect fight.

watch maidana vs ortiz and cayo , dont under estimate how well he cuts the ring down and his workrate.

there is a reason why khan has only fought 1 puncher in his career and everybody knows why and what happened.

maidana by ko as he will land that right hand more than once and khan cant take it

yes i have backed my pick on this fight 13/5 for a ko by maidana

khan will win easy, since his loss his boxed clever everytime and this fight will show why his world class, yes his chin is suspect but so is anyones if hit perfectly, khan to win in the middle rounds, to fast to accurate to much talent for this guy. :bag:

khan might win mate but i just cant see maidana missing him all night with that right hand and it will only take 1 good shot , even a half shot to ko khan.

gomez was a 5 years shot superfeatherweight and he had khan in trouble , limond has no punch at all

maidana will land - alot

his looked alot stronger in the legs since the step up from light weight, dont get me wrong if his caught flush it could be good night, but my moneys on khan by stoppage, everyone talked about harrisons gona land on haye eventually and haye cant take a punch, look what happened, its all about levels and apart from maybe pacman and floyd i believe khan will beat all the rest.

khan remember can also hurt maidana but he will need to be close to do it , i agree that khan can outbox maidana but his chin is that bad

its the worst ive ever seen on a top level fighter.

if khan wins i will come on say i was wrong...will be watching the fight at my work so will be on straight after the fight

Khan will stop him. Too much speed, power and combination punching.

I think Khans chin will have got better now hes moved apping an extra 5 pounds from a big frame can affect the punch resistance.
I dont think itl ever be cast iron but maturing and being at a higher weight will make him a little more sturdy

Agree completely. They're by no means like-for-like comparisons, but the likes of Oscar and Manny have all shown a better ability to absorb punches as they've risen in weight.
I think Khan will box rings around Maidana, winning a conclusive UD. In fact, I can see Maidana getting increasingly demoralised as the rounds go by so wouldn't even rule out a late stoppage for Khan.

Khan will box his head off and snap his head back repeatedly with double jabs, before stopping him late. IMO

I think Khan will be punch perfect, and box rings around the fella before stopping him at the midway point.

I see Khan using fast combinations and very nice lateral movement, MM needs to be set to throw his big punches so I don't see him getting them off, also MM's defence is leaky and feet are slow so I don't think he'll have the foot speed to cut the ring off, I fancy Khan to win widely after his vest performance to date, taking out the punch MM Is made for Khan

Not before that big Lasith Malinga-style right hand lands flush on Khan's chops.

You finding it funny how these Yanks are making Maidana out to be some kindof mythical devil puncher? He's as one dimensional as your love life, mate.

Pre-Salita I would have strongly favoured Maidana to stop Khan but Amir really has come on leaps and bounds in the past 18 months - his accuracy, speed and footwork are world class and his defense has really improved under Roach. Maidana looked very poor against Demarcus Corley. I'm favouring a Khan late stoppage or points win.

Yeah, and this fight is only happening because of Maidana's last fight. If he knocked Chop Chop out quickly, then we would be seeing Khan vs. Diaz this week.

Cynical.

to nick a phrase from the great McIlvanney, Maidana looks like he learned his footwork at a school for deepsea divers. if only he was a bit bigger, I'd suggest that he had the physique of a Greek statue, and all the moves of one. I think Khan will absolutely wreck him with the jab and little else until daddy freddie says he's allowed to throw a right hand, maybe after 8 or 9 rounds.

Khan in ten. Maidana surprised me against Cayo but rewatching it the Dominican fought like a schmuck that night -- stood in close to the short-armed little dude & got effed for it.

Anyway, we wouldn't even be having this discussion if Victor Ortiz had half a brain.

I've never thought much of Maidana at all, really--he's brave & can whack with the right hand, but I don't think much of his punch resistance, he blocks punches with his face & his punch delivery & accuracy is woeful-- & all the "Ooh, how dangerous he is" talk will be seen for what it was come Sunday morning, i.e. bollocks. Even when I saw him fight Kotelnik years ago I sat there going "Feck me, this is supposed to be the devastating KO killer everyone's been talking about?" I saw a strong, uncoordinated guy failing to solve a top-ten level boring git due to having no imagination whatsoever & rudimentary skills.

He's short & crude, if not for Amir's perceived vulnerability (which too much is made of, he no longer runs into punches he doesn't see coming) no-one would give Maidana a snowball's chance in Hell.

Apart from Autobarn, natch.

Agree with you about the Ortiz part of your post. He really fought a stupid, stupid fight. Although Ortiz is one of the current Golden Boy hype boys, with his ability he should have boxed the ears of Maidana if he used his skills.

You'd imagine Khan will do a number on this guy, but it could be we're a bit blinded by Khan's recent brilliant ( and carefully managed ) run of wins. He's facing the biggest puncher of his career, and for someone will a very brittle chin, one split second mistake and Khan is gonna get splattered for sure.

I think Khan will knock over Maidana, but I think the Argie gets back up, and that could be the real moment of danger for an over confident Khan, as he moves in to get the sensational win, and possibly walks onto one.

I agree the added weight helps Khan, but that chin is always going to leave things on a knife edge when he's facing someone who can punch. He's been kept WELL clear of punchers up to now, for obvious reasons.

The so-called improvements in Khan's defence have been vastly overrated too though. He's not faced anyone who could lay a heavy glove on him and they weren't really live contenders either although i will give him credit for the Kotelnik win.

I think both fighters have question marks over them and we'll find out who's actually improved on the night.

Khan has impressed and improved massively since going to Roach but got a horrible feeling he is going to win all first seven or so rounds easily but get tagged by a wild bomb by Maidana in middle/late rounds. I hope i am wrong though as i didn't rate the fella initially but i thought his performance against Kotelnik was superbly disciplined and showed his world class potential.
