Where now for Andy, will his proposed fight with Vera come forward a month or try and get a fight in early Jan?
There are serious talks of Sergio Martinez in March underway.dutchie wrote:Where now for Andy, will his proposed fight with Vera come forward a month or try and get a fight in early Jan?
No offense to Andy but surely a complete mismatch. Lee hasn't even faced a ranked boxer yet?ImElvis666 wrote:There are serious talks of Sergio Martinez in March underway.dutchie wrote:Where now for Andy, will his proposed fight with Vera come forward a month or try and get a fight in early Jan?
Lee would certainly be against the odds. It's not an impossible task though.Scottrf wrote:No offense to Andy but surely a complete mismatch. It's about as close to one as you'll get though. I wouldn't blame him for taking it, of course.ImElvis666 wrote:

I think he'll surprise people. People seriously underrate him due to his loss against Vera, before that he was probably overrated. Lee certainly won't be jumping head first into hayemakers a la Williams. He fights upright and uses his size advantages. I'm not saying he'll win but there is no doubt he can knock out Martinez, Lee carries a lot of power.states wrote:It's about as close to one as you'll get though. I don't think he carries that much power. And even if he did, he'd have to land first. Martinez is way too savvy for Lee.ImElvis666 wrote:I think he'll surprise people. Lee has a pretty diverse offensive arsenal. Pavlik couldn't land much but all he was doing was doubling up on the jab ad nauseum. Lee has nice hooks, uppercuts and has really improved his bodyshots over the last year or two. He is competent with both hands too.states wrote:I don't think he carries that much power. It's not so much that people under-rate him, it's more that his recent opposition means his preparation to face the likes of a Martinez is utterly inadequate. If you're going to take on someone of the calibre of Martinez you should be facing opponents who are actually going to advance you in that direction (think McGuigan facing the likes of LaPorte to ensure he was 'battle-hardened' when the time came to face Pedroza).ImElvis666 wrote:I think he'll surprise people. You're not wrong there, I would have liked to seen him have a Vera rematch, Duddy and someone like Lorenzo or Spada before he took on Martinez but he's been given the chance now and I think he's right to go for it. Even if he loses, he'll know what level the elite are at and can come back and go for it again as he is still young.Deserter wrote:It's not so much that people under-rate him, it's more that his recent opposition means his preparation to face the likes of a Martinez is utterly inadequate.
