Not sure how you all feel about these type of posts but I find them quite stimulating and amusing at times, plus hopefully it will cheer up all these winter blues.
Hope you like my first 2 (the reason for 2 is they were supposed to be on the same bill in Japan I think) that involve great British fighters.
OK here goes..
Bruno V Mercer.. Mercer stops Bruno late
Morrison V Hide..Hide stops Morrison after eing dropped himself in a slugfest in 6
What do you think?

When I saw the title, I thought you meant Briton -v- Briton.
Following your lead, I'd have liked to have seen Nigel Benn -v- Julian Jackson (circa 1990).
Tough one to call, as it would have been a case of which one connected first.
I'd lean towards Benn, as he was extremely dangerous when hurt & I could have imagined him taking a heavyish shot from Jackson, going down, getting up & going ballistic.
I'd say Benn TKO 3 after taking 2 counts.

I think Benn destroys Jackson ala McClellan.
Roy Jones toys with bomber.
How about Haye Vs Morrison...easy for Haye? or does the Duke land the left?
Or Haye Vs Michael Moorer? could be like the Cooper war with Haye getting a Moorer upercut to end it.
I will tell you a Heavyweight with a shit record and chin who would have been all wrong for Hide, Bruno & Mason.....Maurice Harris, I think he would have boxed rings around them and stopped Hide, Bruno, and points against Mason.

both those fights would of been crackers
I always enjoyed watching all 4 of those fighters fight so wouldnt of minded
Bruno-Morrison ......Bruno heavy KO
Hide-Mercer... not sure about this but feel it may of gone the same way that the Bowe-Hide fight did
how about a bit of
Prime Benn-Toney

Toney would have cut Benn to ribbons Mark, plus Toney had a GREAT Eubanks'esque chin who (unlike McCellan fought relaxed and could keep it up all night) again style all wrong i think.

i think Jones Jnr would of had problems with a prime Bomber, i'm saying bomber wins but it would take Jones at least 6 rounds to get to him.
Haye takes about Moorer and Morrison but would of loved to see him fight a prime Mercer who would take him into deep water.
Can you see Haye living with the Mercer that fought Lewis? I think it would look exactly like the Mercer/Morrison fight, i.e. David looking like a million dollars for 4 rounds then....
Gonzalez V Hide? lol I doubt they would have both made it intact to the ring.
Mix the Bowe Gonzalez prefight with Hide Bent prefight and you got the ultimate highlight reel:-)

Easy night for Mercer
really? I think Mason would be in with a shout, IF it was in the UK I give Mason a shot however if its the Mercer from the Cooper fight (who was in shape) then it could have been a sore one for big Gary.

a fit motivated toney would probably have destroyed benn...then again if benn hadn't fought the g-man then we'd probably think the same about that....on paper you woulda had to go with mcclellan...
the fact eubank / benn never got in the ring with toney / RJJ is a real pity...

I'm going to state the most obvious one of all; Lennox Lewis -v- Riddick Bowe (1993).
This fight could & SHOULD of happened, but thanks to Rock Newman & Riddick Bowe, it didn't. :x
I'd take a Lewis win, but only because Bowe was obviously scared of him.
Lewis was still quite reckless & over reliant of his Right hand in 1993 & Bowe certainly had the skills & tools to beat him, but I don't think he had the belief.
Post McCall 1 Lewis would have beaten Bowe hands down, whether Bowe was scared or not.

are you mad!?!?
bruno would not cope with hayes speed or movement.
naz's angles would totally baffle mcguigan - think mccullough.
benn / calzaghe would be a very interesting match up....tho i'd go with benn in a very close fight
hate to say it but khan would batter ricky the same way that pac did...

The way I see it is Bruno has beat better heavyweight opposition than Haye and was winning the fight against Lewis before it was stopped. I don't know who has the harder punch between Lewis and Haye but I would say Lewis did and also had the better jab to keep people at bay. I think Bruno would have more success against Haye than what he did against Lewis and come on strong in the latter rounds once Haye is getting tired.
Naz's angles would baffle McGuigan but looking at who Naz lost to was similar in style to McGuigan.
Pac battered Ricky at the end of his career with a peach of a punch coming at a funny angle just as Hatton was trying to get some momentum, I don't think Khan posses that power, skill or accruacy to beat a prime Hatton.
I might be mad but I don't think these are beyond reason

Lewis v Norton or prime Foreman

Hamed would destroy McGuigan, different leagues mate.
And Haye would have knocked out Bruno mid-rounds, at least

Now all I know is Naz was always slated as being one of Britains worst world champions at the time and I tend to agree and McGuigan in a good era of little men was always mentioned and still is today to some extent as one of the best British/Irish world champions at the time that's my theory on that considering I'm not a great fan of Naz.

When was Naz ever slated as being one of Britain's worst world champions?
I don't remember that.......he was being labelled our most exciting, arrogant and explosive world champ from what I remember.

Bruno and Mercer would both stop Haye.
Haye has good movement but a lot of it is wasted, waving his arms about looking flash won't work against the likes of Bruno and Mercer, both of whom will keep the left hand in his face early on before getting an exhausted Haye out of there in the mid rounds.

Interesting take on those fights.

Randy Turpin versus Michael Watson.
Henry Cooper versus Carl Thompson (crusierweight).
Terry Downes versus Nigel Benn (middle).
Terry Marsh versus Kirkland Laing.
Johnny Nelson versus James Toney (when Toney was IBF holder at cruiserweight).
Frank Bruno versus Kenny Norton.
I think that Jones versus a prime Hatton is a genuinely 50-50 fight. Jones's extra punching power would play a huge part but Hatton's relentless pace and body punching would also come into play. I'd fancy Turpin over Watson but it would be a really interesting test between two guys who both had remarkable physiques. Downes fought the best of his era, as did Benn, and it would be ace to see them match off at middleweight because both showed vulnerability in their careers. Marsh versus Laing would either be a really interesting one or an absolute bore, ditto for Nelson versus Toney. I like Bruno and Norton for their physiques and they'd be a good match for one another, solid skills and methodical styles matching off.
For a non-British fight I'd have love to have seen Joe Louis against a prime Sonny Liston.

I just don't think Haye is that good at heavyweight.
He's alright against old guys like Ruiz or limited foes like Valuev, but against live opponents that can take a punch and deliver one in return I think he'll struggle much more.
Can't say I'd fancy him against many of the best 90's HW's..... let's face it, if he fancied the job against Wlad he'd have taken it by now. Both Bruno and Mercer are very live foes for Wlad IMO.
