In the absence of Ric and his habit of throwing headaching trivia at us from time to time, I present to the knowledgeable Boxreckers of the Past forum users this trivia question:

Who was the first man in boxing history to acquire a world crown (or any version of it) on a "Techical win"?

As far as i am aware Juan Manuel Marquez scored a 7 round technical draw over Derrick Gainer for the WBA/IBF Featherweight title on 1st nov 2003.

That's not the correct answer, but the boxer in question was a countryman of Juan Manuel Marquez.

Gayner was lost by technical decision 7 (not a tecnical draw). I frowned when I read gov's post it was a t. draw- was I wrong? Then I checked boxrec, I was correct that it was a technical victory for Marquez not a draw.

Yep! :D

July, 10th 1983 Lupe Madera was given a technical decision in 4 rounds over Katsuo Tokashiki, when he was ahead on the cards after an accidental clash of heads. It was for the WBA Jr. Flyweight Title, and the 3rd fight between these two (out of a total of 4 fights, overall they were in the ring against each other for a total of 49 rounds)

Damn, that was too easy. Ric, where are you man? My trivia questions dont even last 24 hours before they get answered. :-?
