2010 has been like a warm up year for GB, getting ready for 2011. Here are some fights and fighters to look out for in 2011
- Amir Khan, one word WOW. What a performance againsts Marcos Maidana. Khan showed so much skill and speed but maily showed so much heart. My prediction is that Khan goes on to be the best at light-welterweight with victories over Zab Judah in England in April and the winner of Alexander-Bradley in the fall.
- David Haye, Not his best year but you can look at this in two ways. Ether you think Haye had a wasted year ducking the Klitskcho's are he had a very clever year , growing into the heavyweight divsion making some good money agasint Harrison and now is primed and ready to take on the Brothers. If he defeats them , he is the new face of Boxing.
- Carl Froch, What a fighter! He lost narrowly to Mikel Kessler in April and although Froch lost a very close fight , it looks like the lasting effects are on Kessler who will most likey never be the same fighter again after the hard, tough fight with the Cobra, Kessler won the fight , Froch won the overall damage to one and other. Then on November 27th Froch outclassed Arthur Abraham and now looks to face Ward in the final in 2011( if he gets past Johnson) i belive Froch has the style to beat Andre Ward. Other postive news is that Sky are in talks to put on Carl's next fight which will mean more exposure, he really deserves it.
-Nathan Cleverly, This could be a big year from the man from Wales. He had a tough fight saterday agasint an akward ( last minure oppenent) but Clev could well be made Champion outside the ring if Jurgen Brahmer goes to prison and is unable to defend agaisnt Nathan. This could set up big fights with Tarvious Cloud in 2011 and my guess he is he wins that fight.
-Kel Brook, the kid has all the talent in the world , hes a good looking lad so they are going to love him in America. He also has a little bit of Naz about him but i belive he can be better than Naz and go on to unify titles. Dont be surprised if Kel beats up Mike Jones for an Interim Title on HBO and etheir goes on to be the full champion or even with the fact that Berto cant find an oppenent at Welterweight could face Brook in the fall.
- Matthew Macklin, if allegedly can get him the fights , Matt has every channce of winning agasint every title holder besides Sergio Martinez. If he gets a shot agasint Sylvester the IBF champ, expect Macklin to dominate that fight whether in Germany or England. I would also fancy his chances agaisnt Priog.
- Ricky Burns, People may laugh here but Burns who is by know means a A level fighter, has the chance to do something unique , he may be albe to domiate the divsion for a few years. Hes a very good fighter with fast hands and a nice jab and a great Heart! But looking at the people around Burns who can you say will walk over him ? You have Jorge Solis which is a 50/50 fight and rematch with Roaman Martinez ? he do great things at super featherweight until Juan Manuel Lopez and Yuriokis Gamboa decide to move up.
- Here are a list of fighters who could make great strides towards world level or european level and this is showing the strength GB has got in Boxing. James Degale, Frankie Gavin , John Murray, Billy Joe Saunders, Tony Bellew, Tyson Fury, Joe Murray , Matthew Hatton, Martin Murray, Stephen Smith, Derick Chisora, David Price, Tony Jeffries, Ashley Sexton, Stephen Foster Jr. , Tom Dallas, Jamie Cox ( if he can put his legal charges behind him ) Gaivn Rees and Callum Johnson.
I understand this is my own opinion and don't get me wrong ill be wrong about a lot of this , but everyone can admit Britain had some very talanted fighters!
