BOXING NEWS

IS there any way we can begin a (serious) thread here to let Boxing News know how sloppy their distribution system has become and how unhappy we are with it?
Got mine TODAY (Dec 14) and it went straight in the bin, not the first time it's been late but Tuesday is a record, well done BN.
I'm afraid I'm going to cancel my subscription and buy it from my newsagent instead, it's always there on a Thursday. Will be nice to actually read a preview before a fight...

Mate I still havent received last week's copy. I called Royal Mail and they told me I should take it up with the sender it is nothing to do with them. I dont care about last week's copy now - I am just hoping I get this week's copy on time.

I got mine yesterday. I waited until Saturday but had to buy one from a newsagent as I wanted to read the previews. It's the first one I've had late for over a year, but of all the f'n weeks it was that one, I couldn't believe how petulant I had the ability to still be after being let down 3 days running.

Guys we get how pissed off u all are but what is the point on starting a thread to make your point? Just call us and make us aware. There have been massive distribution problems the last two weeks due mainly to Royal Mail. They are fobbing u off but it is mostly their fault as many other posted items are equally late. It will improve but in the meantime ring Paul Firth on 0207 618 3089 and he will help you out. Even if it means sending you the electronic pages as you are subscribers. We hate to let our readers down.

For what it's worth, mine arrived on time again. I've not had any problems with BN arriving late since the change to Thursday, I've always received it by the Friday at latest. I wouldn't put much faith in what the Royal Mail tell you, they like passing the buck as much as they like making one.

What's the point?
Highlighting repeated poor service is the point.
I subscribe, your part of the deal is to deliver a magazine on time, not to offer 'electronic pages' as a compromise.

Danny Flexon's help is welcomed.
I too am still waiting for my BN!! I was re-considering my subscription in September due to this reason. Whats the point of reading 3 -4 pages of previews that aren't now relevant, and the current news has probably been covered on here or some other website by now. I gave in in the end and renewed my subs, but christ this does test your resolve dosen't it.
I don't blame BN, they did the sensible thing changing distribution to Thurs, maybe now they need to find a different way to get it here!!
Will try getting the electronic version. Would prefer this option every week to be honest but probably risks copyright issues??

All of last Thursday was a bloody disaster, not only no boxing news, Bunce Boxing Hour wasnt on and then I waited for Ringside to come on and we got the Lennox Lewis special again. What do I tell Royal Mail, specifically, if I ring them back - they dont give a balls - they will just tell me the same old rubbish - it isnt their fault....i.e. they cant be arsed/pass the buck - but I hope this is not going to be a regular thing......

Our end of the deal IS to get the mag to u on time (and to produce good content) but to say what's the point in letting us know it hasnt arrived is nonsensical as we may be able to come to a satisfactory conclusion. We are pretty frustrated too - we are writers and want as many people as possible to read our work. Ring Paul - forget Royail Mail - and if he doesn't help you ring me or Tris. We will do all we can.

You asked 'What's the point' - and I answered you by saying "Highlighting repeated poor service is the point."

Yes and my point is if you want the situation to be improved then you should highlight the problem directly to us. Starting a thread won't do it - what are we going to do, pm every poster who complains? Even though I'm a writer and do not deal directly with distribution? I'm just being practical - highlight the issue to someone best placed to resolve it

Well I certainly have in the past - I can't speak for anyone else - but the situation does not appear to be improving or anywhere near to being resolved.
Thanks for taking the time to answer the messages though.

Obviously the chap can start a thread if he wants - loads of people on here subscribe to BN - he wants to see if anyone else is sharing his frustration. For the first reaction to be 'what is the point in starting a thread?' doesn't look great. He does need to take it up with the relevant parties, of course, and the BN staff will be incredibly frustrated with all this.
I'm sure this has f*ck all to do with the staff at BN and everything to do with Royal Mail.
Royal Mail are a complete set of useless so and sos. Some scumbag postman nicked a £30 argos voucher which was sent for my daughter's third birthday. I'm sure the thief could tell as it came with a birthday card. Anyway, the card still got here...the envelope looked a bit dodgy, I enquired and the voucher had been immediately used - too late for me to do anything about it.
Royal Mail sent an error-ridden letter which clearly showed they hadn't actually read my letter. I tried again, they were totally uninterested. I mean, if I had a thief (and no doubt they've got plenty) working for me, I'd want to nail them.
Oh, I got the police involved. They said they couldn't treat it as theft because I hadn't received it in the first place.

Yeah, that's exactly how my daughter's arrived, slit carefully along the edge, just enough to get the voucher out.

I clearly meant that starting a thread was not the best way to solve the problem. Anyway...
For any subscribers who have not received our block email, email me (
[email protected]) with your subs number and I will enable you to view the digital edition. Last week's is available, this week's will be early on Friday. Hope this goes some way to helping people out. It IS Royal Mail's fault but this is our gesture to mitigate the suffering.

Any moves being made towards making Boxing News available as an ipod / iphone app to download like boxing monthly? I would subscribe this way if it was available at a reasonable price.

FWIW I've had trouble in the past and I always call and they send me one straight away. Someone gets it right. I've never gone without, just late.
