Robin Reid Comeback?

Anyone got any news of this, read about Reaperman having another whack at winning the Lonsdale in Liverpool at the start of the year, but seen nothing since...
Yeah, your apathy is so apparent.Chambers2 wrote:Reid was shite for the last 5 years of his career and now he wants to comeback after a 3 year lay-off???
Excuse my apathy on the situation

Mickey Duff, who promoted Wharton, had a huge bet with F rank Warren, who promoted Reid, that his man would win.
Reid's second ever best performance.bennie wrote:I was only reading about Reid yesterday, in the build-up to his fabulous performance against Henry Wharton.

Agreed, Robin was a talented fighter in his day, I still remember his battle with Magee.WelshDevil wrote:He needs to stay retired.
I liked Reid but thought his fight with Magee was awful.Crease wrote:Agreed, Robin was a talented fighter in his day, I still remember his battle with Magee.WelshDevil wrote:He needs to stay retired.
But Mr. Reid needs to stay retired, boxing has moved on since his day.

Yeah, mine too. I've never seen a boxer warned for punching another in the face before. Ignoring the obvious knockdown was pretty bad too. Good old Roger Tillerman. And people complain about Joe Cortez. Robin was an unlucky guy. Ottke wouldn't give him a rematch and neither would Calzaghe who "doesn't believe in rematches". As noted earlier it's not as an enjoyable way of making a living as his previous job, but he does have a "name" so maybe someone will be interested.Ted wrote:orbtastic wrote:From where I was sitting in the arena, I thought he beat Calzaghe.
From where i was watching (on my sofa) he trounced double world champion Sven Ottke
Thats incorrect my friend. As much as I like to point out Calzaghe's short-comings, Reid was actually offered a rematch. In fact Reid turned it down as he thought his 1st performance was deserving of a better payday than was being offered.Newport Daz wrote:Yeah, mine too. Mickey offered a £10,000 bet and Fwank fired back with an offer of £50,000!They settled at £25,000.Going into the fight, the bookies couldnt split them, both 5/6 in places. To be fair to Duff,Reid had never boxed as well as that before.McCannW14 wrote:Is that true.
