Former heavyweight champion and HBO analyst for the past 12 years, George Foreman, announced today that he is leaving HBO. He made the decision mainly because he felt bad about missing all of his son's football games this season. Foreman had nothing bad to say about the network or his co-workers despite the obvious growing on air tension.
"Those years were very happy for me. HBO brought me into the living rooms of millions fans across the country. I want to thank my broadcast partners Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant for their expertise and boxing insight. Most especially, I would like to thank my good friend, Ross Greenberg for taking such good care of me at HBO. He is a great leader, friend and businessman. I will cherish my time spent working with him."
Foreman will now spend more time with his wife Mary and his 10 kids.
"My son George was New England champion football player this year. I didn't make it to one game. That is when I decided that I needed to make a career change."

In the summer, I cited a ringside bust-up between Foreman and Larry Merchant in Vegas. Forget the American football crap, Foreman has had enough of Merchant.

Let's just hope this isn't the start of yet another comeback attempt by Big George. Today's heavyweight division may be weak, but it's not THAT weak.

seeing as in the UK we are not treated to georges great insight, and his bust-ups with merchant, can anyone give me any details on the bust ups they have had?

Also, lets hope George does not comeback to boxing again. he would be seriously hurt.

George speaks some occaisional rubbish, but he's enthusiastic and not afraid to argue with his co-commentators.

Religion or no religion, I don't think I would argue with Foreman's big black bald ass.

They should get Bernard Hopkins to replace Big George: "You get paid for doing nothing every day, Larry."

That's really sad, it was a great little act. They simply must replace him with somone else that doesn't like Larry Merchant.
