HEAVYWEIGHT BATTLE ON PASCAL/HOPKINS
WORLD TITLE FIGHT UNDERCARD
QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC, CANADA (December 17, 2010) Sensational Irish/British heavyweight prospect Tyson Fury will make his highly anticipated North American debut against veteran Zack Page on Saturday, December 18th in an eight round battle.
The Fury/Page special attraction matchup is featured on the undercard to the WBC Light Heavyweight Diamond World Title bout between Canada’s Jean Pascal and boxing legend Bernard Hopkins at the sold out Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City. The event will be broadcast LIVE on pay-per-view in Canada on Canal Indigo, Bell TV, Shaw TV and Viewer's Choice in French and English at 7:00 p.m. ET, and on Primetime – Sports PPV Channel 480 on Sky in the UK and Ireland beginning at Midninght GMT.
Fury was originally lined up against New York City based Israel Garcia, but the veteran Page is seen as a much better challenge.
Earlier this year Page pitched an eight round shutout victory over the man who forced Mike Tyson into retirement, Kevin “The Clones Colossus” McBride in New York.
Following the fight with Page, McBride went on to a very successful outing at the Prizefighter Heavyweight Tournament, winning a decision over Franklin Egobi on October 10th at York Hall in London.
Page, a wily veteran of the ring, is no stranger to pulling off the big upset victory on the road, having gone to Germany in January of this year only to beat the highly regarded heavyweight prospect Sebastian Kober, then 19-0.
The 6’9” Fury is more than ready for any challenge that Page can bring to the table and can’t wait to step into the ring on Saturday night: “This fight is a great opportunity for me to show people why I’m the most talked about heavyweight prospect in World Boxing. I am so excited to be a part of such a fantastic event, in what is probably one of the biggest matches in Canadian boxing history. And to be escorted into the ring by George Chuvalo, a man who was involved in the biggest heavyweight fight in Canadian history when he faced off against Muhammed Ali, is truly inspiring” Said the ShowBox alum.
