If Froch stepped up to light heavy

and fought Cleverly, how do you see the fight going?

With the way they fight and the chin`s they have, it would be a fight of the year in the making.

We could see that in 2012

Froch would win. Cleverly has never been in with a puncher, so I'm not sure exactly how good is chin is, although it certainly isn't bad. Murat is his best opponent, and a solid fighter, but he is hardly on Froch's level. Clev would not outslug or overpower Froch and I haven't seen great boxing skills from him either.

Can't see it happening. If it did, Froch knocks him out.

Is Froch a puncher? maybe at domestic level but his last 5 fights have gone the distance.

He stopped Taylor.
Granted, but with 14 seconds left of the fight, it was a case of Taylor gassing rather than Froch's concussive power that stopped him.

Froch is a good puncher for sure - but he certainly isn't the dynamite puncher he sometimes gets described as.

I must be all alone in thinking Cleverly stands a great chance of beating Froch then ...
Enzo Calzaghe felt pretty sure of it some years ago ....then again, he felt sure of Enzo beating Haye lol

Nathan has the speed of punch and could beat Froch, will he? No!

You're not alone at all, I think it would make a great fight as long as Nath boxes properly and not gun ho.

its a long way off who knows what happens between now and than.

Right now obviously froch is a veery formidable proposition for cleverly who isnt ready. Nathan though could improve as we expect him to and froch may stay the same or deteriote.

Froch would be much the same as hatton if he stepped up,the size and strength he carries wouldn't be so effective at the weight above and he hasn't got the skills of a Hopkins for example so he'd struggle,he's also got age and wars against him

I never said he was, although he has shown more power than Cleverly has. He hurt Taylor, Pascal, and had Kessler and AA looking weary at times. My point was that you cannot deduce that Clev has a really good chin based on who he has fought. We can certainly say Froch has a great chin though.

Personally Froch would hammer clev. Froch is a quality in my eyes top 10 p4p boxer were clev has never been in the ring with people of his class.

He's not top 10 p4p. No way. He's good, but not that good.

My only concern around Clev is his chin as it's not been tested, Froch would definitiely give it a good workout and I reckon he'd stop him late. It's a very possible match-up for 2012 IMO

Regardless of who he fights I think he should move up anyway, he's too skinny for SM imho :TU:

I'm not denying that, it's obvious he's done well and I'm grateful to have a champ like him around. You can tell by looking at him that he could do with more weight on him though :TU:

Why would he want more weight on him?

It would be a great fight... I think it is tough to call - With Froch approaching 34 and Clev what is he 23? At the moment, I don't think Clev is quite ready, but give it a year and I think the fight will come too late for Froch.

Just don't think Clev has his man strength yet. I think he has the engine, the speed and the chin to beat him though.

Sod the super 6 - I want to see this.

think froch v hopkins would be a cracking match. think with the more weight on him he'd be more powerful as he is quite a skinny smw. couple of more matches at smw rematch with kessler and is he not fighting johnson next in super 6 with a possible match against andre ward. unify the division then move up so probs another 12-18months b4 he moves up.

Bellew would be cleverly I don't care what people think granted last two performances have not been the best but cleverly would stand in front of bellew or try an push him back an he is not too hard to catch either an I would put good money on bomber beating him so when it happens let's put money where are mouths are instead of saying no he wouldn't yes he would etc

I just don't see Bellew making a close 2nd with Clev.
Sure, Tony would be a threat as long as he is standing - but his punches are so telegraphed at this level, that Cleverly could stand infront of him and punish Bomber all night long.
Bomber has pulled it back in his last two fights simply because the other guys have gassed. I understand Bellew played a big part in that - but Clev has an engine to keep it going on and on and on ..

The advantages Tony has brought down to the weight are proving disadvantages as he moves up in class.
Maybe his lack of handspeed would not be so obvious at cruiser? Maybe his punch resistance would improve also?

Be interesting to see how Tony's power holds out when he steps up. In his two fights in which he has upped the callibre of opponents - they've gone long and its not like McKenzie has never been stopped.
