Ideas for the Sim:

Lets cut the bullshite with this Buzz fella. What the old lad means is he wants things to continue on as they have been doing.
And that's fine by him, he's done well with his own brand underhand techniques, plain lies and skullduggery.
So who can blame him for wanting to continue his success.
However, what I am proposing is- lets us look at the issues at hand, without hesitation nor complaint. I am no patriot nor am I presenting myself as one. Nevertheless there are issues that need to be addressed.
Just look at the charade which happened last year when Marquez gatecrashed the Hall Of Fame, that in itself shows this place could do with a brush-up.
Here are some of the issues:
Unification fights for one. Should a Title Holder be able to unify titles immediately or should he have to defend it 3 times before granting a Unification bout?
More tournaments hence more opportunities for those fighters who have not ahcieved in a season.
More Commish weeks, they are always relatively fair.
And what about a BoxRec super six or some other such title eliminators happening in the Mid to later weeks.
Lets try and spice things up around here, because it does need that. Hell, we recognised this last season and we introdyced Regional Titles, but they were a mistake.
C'mon lads, lets try something.

Seconded. As to other changes, I say none are needed. This season has been pretty good.

I enjoyed this season as well, I don't see why everyone got all frustrated with it.
Crease
is very annoying.

A better ranking system would help

I think any obvious superstars need to be greyed out.
Robinson.
Louis.
Ali.
Monzon.
Just anyone who is a stand out fighter in a division. It's boring when the same people are mandatories when they come about.

TBh Crease, you can be a bit annoying with all the nonsense you spout. Granted, your enthusiasm for the Sim is refreshing, but why not take 'Buzz' advice and just shut up a little bit?

How about each manager having 1 modern fighter and 1 historic fighter. 1st round draft picks would be for a modern fighter and 2nd round picks for a historic fighter. Draft order would be more balanced like this.
Split them until week 20. After week 20/25 the sim could be merged and be instantly refreshed.
Historic Era
WBA/WBC - WBU (ranked under 15/ under 10 if splitting the rankings)
Modern Era
IBF/WBO - IBO (ranked under 15/ under 10 if splitting the rankings)

How about we just leave things how they are?
Only suggestion which I like thus far is Jai's idea to leave the very best fighters out of the draft. That worked in the past.

Lots of people seem disinterested.
Don't fear change. Embrace it.

Lot's of people are whingers.
You forget, the Sim has been around for years and undergone a number of changes. The current incarnation of the Sim is by far the best.

The sim generates the rankings. Other than making some up, you're SOL on that one.

I agree, and I really don't know how the current product can be improved much. Limiting the number of managers would probably help in speeding things up.

This is a great idea, I say we see how many sign up and then turf at least manger from the list.

I think this season was Ok, apart from Crease's Noobness.
Only thing i would change is the rankings, I think fighters should only be ranked for one or possiblly two diffrent belts. It would stop the same 10 guys being avaliable to the Champion, and give a lot more fighters a chance at a title shot. Even a guy like Crease might get a shot if this could be changed
It would stop the same guy being mandatory for 3-4 belts. It would also give a far bigger pool for the Champion to choose from. and give more chance for fighters to get a crack at a tile.

Personally, I think everything is spot on, but I would like to see more people with a chance of winning the belts, hence wanting to revert back to the old days when the very best were greyed out.
The belts and mandatory positions have been monopolised this year by Robinson, Armstrong and Napoles. Eliminating SRR would have meant Armstrong and Napoles leading the pack, and they are both very much beatable.

I like this idea actually. Is it possible to do though? Might mix up the rankings for each belt, as opposed to pretty much the same top 10 existing for each strap (minus the odd one or two).

I agree with Ben on this one. Having the same Mandatory challenger each time round it seriously an issue.
However I don't agree with Jai when he said:

I like the idea of having EVERY fighter available. Because if for example you withdrew Louis and Ali for selection, some other fighter will step up and become the overwhelming favourite. Someone like Tyson or Holmes or Lewis
I think it discredits the Sim when you start withdrawing fighters just for the sake of it.

I don't think I'd change much honestly. Maybe taking those top 5 fighters out of the draft would make for some more excitement. But it would then be less of an accomplishment when GBP rides a dark horse into the championship circle. Which we ALWAYS manage to do despite the "Big Guns".
Oh....and I've been doing some thinking on sort of a general basis, and it would seem appropriate to share this with others.
If you have something and it has value....anything...a new car, a crisp new one thousand dollar bill, A new DVD, a motorcycle, or even a new big screen T.V.
Is it better WITH or WITHOUT a crease?
Just somethin' I was pondering in my spare time the other day.

Gents, I apologise beforehand for any offense caused, I do not mean this in an insulting or derogatory way.
But One other thing I would say is an issue is
cronyism just giving fights because you like someone.
For example, as cna be seen on the Week 33 thread:
Marlin wrote:Ike will take his rematch with Davis.
ben k wrote:Indeed he will. I can see this being an epic encounter, It may be that good that there needs to be a trilodgy
Marlin wrote:If Ike manages to win he will certainly give you a rematch.
It's just marvellous, *insert sarcasim*
We will have Davis vs Ike for 3 consecutive weeks...

I agree with all you gents on the whole.
The Sim is good fun and enjoyable... And it's an exciting place.
However, when I suggest change. I am not talking about tinkering just for the sake of tinkering. Some ideas would detract from the sim, for example:
taking out great fighters or
losing the IBO world title
And I agree with Buzz that if you take out some selected fighters, it makes the ahcievements of winning world titles just hollow.
There needs to be more OPPORTUNITY!
For the fighters in the top 10:
Each should be given a title shot somehwere down the line, instead of rotating the undisputed title around 3 or 4 or 5 boxers.
For the fighters outside the top 15:
More opportunities for them, instyead of just quarrelling and trying to guarantee a WBU title shot.
The Million Dollar tournament is a winner idea but it only comes round once a season. Hence: The reason why I suggested Prizefighter Tourneys.

Crease, this was the way things were before you got here, and it worked a treat.
There will be a chance that someone will step up regardless of whether say, Louis or Ali were there, BUT, thats the great thing about the SIM when you get a LESSER fighter making the HOF. Tiger Jack Fox style.
Greying out the very best will remove at least one dominant fighter, and make everything else an equal playing field.
What would have happened if Robinson weren't available this year? There wouldn't have been one dominant fighter (you can't include Napoles because he's had some very lucky wins and can't get the better of the likes of Whitaker).
