I watched rocky 3 the other day and was bored afterwards so started thinking about possible matchups from the rocky films ( i know i'm sad ),how would clubber lang have got on against a peak apollo creed,or tommy gunn vs drago

Drago would have flattened Tommy Gunn

And Apollo would of danced around clubbed and picked him of with a late stoppage.

LOL i'd have gone for a creed points win myself and yes drago would have bombed out tommy gunn after getting knocked down in the first himself

Creed was in a completely different league to Lang. And Drago was in a completely different league to Gunn.

Peak Creed out-skills the lot. Lang is too small for Drago in a shootout,and shoots his bolt against a prime Rock. Tommy Gunn can be outlasted by Rocky and KO'd by the rest.

In Hollywood fashion, the challenges were presented as more formidable with each sequel, but in boxing terms, Rocky's opponents got easier.

1- Undefeated, prime Apollo
2- Fading Apollo
3- One-dimensional slugger
4- Rank novice
5- Didn't even have a boxing match

Everyone knows Tommy Gunn was a paper champ who wouldn't have even been top 10 in the '70s Creed/Balboa era. Also, Lang was a flat track bully hype job who lacked mental toughness and Drago was on that a-side meth.

Pfft. Spider Ricco would destroy them all.

I think Lang was more likely based on George Foreman.

Both had a reputation as a dangerous up and coming fighter.

Both destroyed the World heavyweight champion in the second round.

Both lost the title to KO after becoming tired while their opponent soaked up the punishment.

In Rocky Six they described Rocky as the ex-ex-ex champion...which means that Dixon took his title off Tommy Gunn! That would mean that Gunn had a decent reign as champion!

What about the obvious rubber matches that were never made. Rocky v Apollo 3 and Rocky v Lang 3. I reckon Rocky would have got done in both. Plus under the modern 12 round system Rocky would have been screwed against Apollo.
