Roberto Duran has to be on the next ballot.

Luis Rodriguez and John Henry Lewis are two that are long overdue off of the top of my head.

Though I agree that others are more worthy, McFarland earned his place.

Technically, Duran would not be eligible until July of 2011, since he last fought in July of 2001. So he would not be eligible for a vote before July.
However, I have no problem changing that rule if we are going to do that with everyone else from now on.
In other words, we would not go by the exact date of their last fight, but by the year of the a fighter's last fight. So if a fighter's last fight was on December 31, 2001, he would be eligible for any vote in 2011.

It's up to you guys. Would like to hear your comments. Remember we have to do it for everyone or no one.

I am asking if we want to change the rules so that a fighter can be elected even though he might not be retired for exactly 10 years yet.

I think we probably should make the rule according to the year in general rather than exactly 10 years. If we're voting now every 6 months, that would prevent Duran from getting in in 2011 due to the fact that he couldn't be voted for in the next election because it wouldn't be an exact 10 years and then he wouldn't be on the second ballot either because that would be limited to fighters who got the most votes on the previous ballot. So, despite the fact that my two favorite Duran fights are No Mas and the Hearns bout, he still should get in this year.
