Yes, I stopped in his gym in Philadelphia. He was there and was very good guy. He also did the forward for the Ken Norton book for me. He's always been a more than generous to me.

Why do you ask?

I met him....musician to musician in Hampton Virginia.....considered going to work for him as his guitar player. But he wasn't working enough weeks for me....I needed a year guaranteed upfront. But I would have been happy as hell to take the gig if it had been a bit more secure. I'm not stretchin' the truth here.....Although I'm not sure Joe was serious, I was flattered to hear the offer.

And Yancey you are so right about music being a distraction for him. Oh...and Yance...I have to tell ya, Ali could sing better than Joe, but Joe picked songs that worked pretty well for his limited vocal chops.

Quite alright with me that Ali could sing better.

Joe had the better left hook. :TU:

Joe had the better left hook, but Ali had a chin that could stand up to that hook....well....for the most part anyway....there was that one Joe threw in the 15th round of their nearly 40 rounds of squabbling that he struggled with a bit as I recall.
