Khan v Katsidis?

Would be a decent fight and another test for Amir's so called chinnyness, would suit Goldenboy/Roach as Katsidis is much smaller, but he's tough, brave, can bang and makes for exciting fights whoever he's in with. Khan's speed and side too much for him IMHO but another well picked 'name' fighter for his CV before he faces Bradley/Alexander

Possibly - quite like the sounds of that to be fair - not sure Khan's team would want it though given the battle he has just had - he'll have 1 or 2 easy fights (for him) and fight Bradley/Alexander next December.

Katsidis is a good strong opponent and a good name aswell

Think that would be a very similar fight to khan/maidana to be fair

Goldenboy have a piece of Katsidis too so it wouldn't hurt them, but as the poster above says it could well pan out like the Maidana fight style wise, but saying that as much as it would make sense in one way to give him less testing fights, at the same time he's got a window of opportunity now with the US public to build on a reputation that the Maidana fight has enhanced massively. Another successful war could really make him a big draw. This is one he could well win

not so easy to get away with fighting bums when you're trying to build a rep in the US IMHO. As I said before, profile raised with the Maidana thriller and more of those types of fights and Khan's earning power and ticket sales increase -

Katsidis can bang but not as deadly as Maidana and Khan took Maidanas big shots - his conditioning under Ariza/Roach and strength at 140 is a massive difference from when he was operating at lightweight, and Katsidis is clearly a natural lightweight so it's the sort of calculated gamble that Roach takes all the time with Pacquiao when he weighs up the opponents. Taking all into consideration Katsidis is very beatable for Khan yet will look like a decent name and not a step down especially after Katsidis destroyed Mitchell and performed creditably against JMM

yer its a funny one, katsidis is a warrior but to me thats it, dont get me wrong his great to watch and of course i would watch him versus khan but khan beating him proves nothing to me, i would rather see mitchell in a rematch with katsidis late 2011 then khan fight him at all.

I'd much rather see Katsidis v Maidana! Not out of the realms of possibility either. Would be a waste of time/money to employ judges for that one!

To me this is a far more entertaining fight than Peterson, plus Katsidis is far, far better known in this country.

Thanks to his fights with Graham Earl and Kevin Mitchell for the interim WBO Lightweight belt with the former being a fight of the year candidate that was constantly going back and forth until it was stopped in the 5th round and the later being an impressive stoppage of Mitchell when he was looking to break into the world stage on allegedly's bill at Upton Park. There was always an arguement that Khan ducked Michael Katsidis when Khan was down at lightweight. What we do know about Katisidis is he A: fun to watch, B got alot a of heart and balls which showed in the fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. It does sound tempting even if it means Katsidis has to go to Light Welter to get the fight.

I'm a big fan of Katsidis, but I've always felt that Khan would be a bad matchup for him. When you march straight forward and your defense is very permeable, you're going to get busted up against Khan---especially if you are the significantly smaller man. Of course Katsidis is a strong guy, but I think Khan would use his size, speed, and skill advantages to stay on the outside and avoid trouble for the most part. I think Katsidis would get worn down and stopped late.

It would make for an interesting fight but i think Katsidis should stick to competing at lightweight. He's proved he's one of the top boys in the division and i 'd hate to see him step up to 140 i think it would be fruitless. He can still win a major title at lightweight.

Agree, Marquez won't be around for much longer and Katsidis is still young enough to rule after he's gone, even though his style isn't too conducive to a long career.

good thread and a fight id like to see. Katsides is no ones handpicked opponent and
if jmm leaves the division he is a good candidate to be number 1. It would be a strong test for khan and were he to take the fight and win it would be another great win. Katsides fights with a lot of spunk and is in your face it would be a great promotion as well

:OhYes: This would be a big fight if it took place over here, Katsidis must be a familiar face to the casual boxing fan over here after chinning Kevin and Graham.

He'd be a great name on Amir's record and Kat's no worse a threat than Maidana in terms of power but Katsidis' swarming hooking style would be very dangerous early doors.

i actually think this would be a tougher fight for Khan than Maidana. Katsidis has accuracy and some speed to go with his power rather than the wild swinging Maidana who still caught Khan and almost stopped him.

Kat has hurt most guys he has been with at some point and I honestly think Khan wouldn't be able to keep Katsidis off him when it mattered. Kat by KO in a war.

Katsidis 'Aint in the mix' according to Khan on the 'scene'

Kahn easy. If Katsidis had ever employed anything like a straight punch in his arsenal I'd give him a shot, but he is all left hooks and corkscrew (I think thats the phrase) rights and he just will not get close enough to Khan to make a lasting impression

Reading today Khan said that Katsidis isn't in the mix as an opponent for his next fight which is a pity as be a very interesting match-up.

I think Katsidis gives Amir a whole heap of trouble.

I agree it might not be long, but it would be plenty of fun to watch though.

Who is in the Mix for Khan's next fight then? Mayweather? Lol

Would love to see it happen, but it won't.

Think khans team would consider it too much of a danger fight straight after the maidana fight and would jeopardise his chance to fight the winner of the Bradley/Alexander fight.

Amir against a career lightweight who is strong and powerful and game but shorter and with less reach? I really admire Katsidis' attitude and approach but he would get blitzed by the halfway mark. Khan proved; for me; against Maidana that he wasn't 'chinny'. He took some very big shots against one of the hardest hitters in the division, wobbled badly but did not go down or lose heart. Though Katsidis is a very hard hitter at lightweight there's nothing to say he'd hit as hard at lightwelter and certainly not as hard as Maidana. The styles of the fighters would make it an easy bout for Khan. Though I like Timothy Bradley as a boxer and think he is on a par with Khan as the best in the division I think Katsidis would give Bradley a better fight.

Katsidis is too small to fight khan really, Katsidis is a lightweight and khan is almost a welterweight. Wouldnt suprise me if khan made it to middle weight at some point.

Just said to me mate that if Katsidis was a little bigger then it would be an amazing contest, but I agree, the Kat is too small.

Its a shame he isnt a natural Jr welter, because he reminds me of tszyu / hatton / gatti - in that proper battler mentality. And the division he is in is a lot tougher so he get less exposure.
