Brook tauts 'chinless' khan

KELL Brook has accused boxing icon Amir Khan of running scared and refusing to fight him.

Sheffield's unbeaten welterweight, who aims to fight for the WBO world title this year, has been offered by allegedly as an opponent to Khan, who would make more than £1.5m out of the bout.

But in Wednesday's Star we reported how Khan had contmptuously declined promoter Warren's offer, boasting about "what I use to do to him in sparring"

But 24-year-old WBO Inter-Contintental champ Brook says the remarks are all a front. "When we sparred together as amateurs they had to separate us because I was giving him a serious hiding" said Brook. "We were young, in a training camp, and he was heading to the Olympics – the national team didn't want me because they don't like our (Ingle) style, it was all politics.

"But when we got in the ring I pasted him. That's what happened, not the other way round like he's saying. The fact is he is dodging me. I read that Frank offered Amir £1.5m to fight me but it was bigger than that. He doesn't want it – but I'd love the opportunity. He is a nice lad but perhaps over-rated, he is fast but has a rubbish chin."

Brook, who has KO'd 16 of his 23 conquests, is still waiting for news on what he has to do to fight for the WBO title.

He is number one challenger, but division kingpin Manny Pacquiao has opted for a more glamorous showdown in May with Sugar Shane Mosley.

"Pacquiao is a super champion so whenever he fights the WBO get millions out of it. In real terms nobody has heard of a Kell Brook out of Sheffield, England. Pacquiao's a legend and it is all about what would sell better." Brook has his eyes on a domestic match-up too; he fancies a crack at Matthew Hatton, brother of Ricky. "It is up to Frank where we go next. We'll be sitting down to decide what route to go down.

Because he know`s that Pacman would hand him his arse.

 I have no interest whatsoever in this fight- he should give Jennings a rematch for a start because I thought Mick was well on his way to winning that fight.

I'd like for Paul McCloskey to stick 7 pounds on and take Brook to pieces, not that Fwank would let it happen.

I like brook but my issue with him is - we still consider him a prospect.

The guys had enough fights and is ranked high enough in the world rankings / with the sanctioning bodies to be fighting top level opponents. And instead he's still fart arsing around fighting euro or below level fighters.

Some fighters for whatever reason have bloody slow moving careers - Kevin Mitchell, John Murray, and now kel brook seems to be on the same road.

After 30 fights is kel going to finally step up and get his arse handed to him?

When you look at guys like haye who has had 25 fights and won 4 world titles, or khan whos had 1 more fight than brook and already defended a world title 3 times, or degale who's career is moving at the speed of a bullet. You have to start thinking if kel brook is that good why isnt he on the world stage by now - does warren really have faith in him? Did warren have really faith in mitchell? Murray different story i know.

of cors his not gona fight pacman!! He'd never get that fight! Thats probably why his not wasting his time callin out pacman! Kell does nothin for pacmans record or his bank balance, n becos of that he'll never fight pacman. If frank has offerd khan 1.5mill to fight brook, n his so confident that he'll beat him, why dont he take da fight? It'll give him a easy pay day over here, n then he can go back to da u.s. N unify the division...?..

So Khan takes on and beats one of the most dangerous, feared and avoided challangers out there, but he's afraid of fighting a prospect? I like Kell Brook, but this is just looking silly IMO.

I know, I just can't believe Brook is quoted as saying Khan is dodging him.
brook should learn some manners and get to the back of the queue as clinton woods once said.

his sense of entitlement stinks. what has he done to deserve a spot on the amir khan show?

Brook makes me laugh.

Gives Khan stick for having a rubbish chin..... but he's not fought anyone that can crack an egg.

After beating one of the best p4p punchers in the game to boot, if he had made the comments before the Maidana bout it would have at least had a bit of credibillity.

Brook needs to follow his own path for now, because if FW can get him moving quickly enough by the time Amir does move up to 147 he could actuallly be a good fight....personally though i dont think he's quite good enough,

have to completely disagree with you there mate.

how can Jennings have shown he was on his way to winning the fight when he didnt even win a round? Jennings was steadfastly refusing to engage Kell and proved again that he is a good, tricky boxer and so succeeded in throwing Kell's timing off somewhat. However, although he may have continued to frustrate Kell and make him look poor, i really cant see how he could have gone from there to actually taking the positive steps necessary to win the fight.

I like McCloskey but he would get his McClock cleaned. Further, if Khan intimated he bashed up Brook in sparring and that didn't happen, why should Brook not respond?

As I've said elsewhere though, Brook fans haven't really got a leg to stand on other than backing potential until he proves himself at the top level, like Khan recently has.

sg1985 wrote:Nothing. He should be bloody doing it! He's fought his way to that position why isn't he talking about that fight? Pacquaio would probably vacate over fighting him anyway.
You and others are slagging him off for being linked with Khan. Yet simply because of a load of governing body associated rubbish, it's OK for him to call out a far better fighter whom he has even less chance of securing a fight against?

I do understand what you mean though because 'on paper' he's the challenger.

However, he'd just look daft and would get slagged to f**k (though not by you, it seems, which is fair enough).

So, he can't really win. What he needs to do is tell his promoter to get him a genuine top ten, live opponent for his next contest.

I read this as Brook tauts 'chinese' Khan. I really should read instead of just skimming things.
