Stubbs is a decent and capable fighter, but perhaps not British Title level.

He was involved in the prizefighter controversy against Dilks, of course, which really was just a judges/announcers error. IE Stubbs did win, they just got the maths wrong or whatever.

Hope the fight goes ahead for him, seems the sort of good honest pro who totally deserves the payday.

He's another Alan Bosworth, a lorry driver by day and a tough fighter at night.

I couldn't agree more this this one of the nicest lads I have ever met he is truly a gent. I'm also glad he has got a big fight even at 39 this is his chance to be the star an to have his name in lights like I say made up for the lad. I dnt think he will win this thow. Darren is game as they cum but is gettin on now I think youth an movement and obviously punch power are goi g to be the main factors but good luck to both men

Seen Darren a few times at Shaw over the years & although he is a good solid boxer he is a bit pedestrian & Belllew will be too quick for him IMO.

Liverpool puncher Tony Bellew defends his Commonwealth light-heavyweight title against Oldham's Darren Stubbs at York Hall on February 19.
The unbeaten Bellew has looked distinctly beatable just recently, struggling in defences against Bob Ajisafe and Ovill McKenzie late last year. There are those who say that Tony always struggles if he fails to knock out an opponent and we have yet to see a 'rounded' display from him as a pro, but the McKenzie bruiser, which saw him down twice in the early rounds before he came back to force an eight-round stoppage, may have brought him on.
At least Tony is keeping busy which cannot be said for Stubbs, a HGV lorry driver who has been out of the ring since last March when he outpointed Birmingham's Hastings Rasani over 10 rounds, his third win over Rasani. At 39, Stubbs took up boxing late and has never been particularly busy but he performed well in Prizefighter in 2009, reaching the final to be outscored by Tony Oakey, and picked up the Central Area light-heavyweight belt in the same year with a 10-round decision over Sheffield's Carl Wild.
Battle-hardened and brave, Stubbs certainly gets stuck in but that will play into the hands of Bellew, and a stoppage win for the champion is on the cards.
