Michael Moorer vs. Bernard Hopkins (LHW)...

What do you think of this? The Moorer who was so explosive, & so brutal, with that devastating knockout punch & the zeal of youth, against the Hopkins somewhat past his prime, but obviously still extremely formidable, who coasted to victory over Tarver. Cagey, wily, smarter, more experienced than Moorer, but slower, older, & smaller.
Thoughts?

Coin flip for me. If Hopkins frustrates Moorer early on then he could probably cruise to a sloppy decision. If Moorer comes out explosive and fights hard for the first 4-5 rounds like he did when he was destroying people at LHW, then I could see him winning.
Gun to my head I have to pick the very young phenom Moorer over the 40-something Hopkins. I wouldn't argue with anyone who felt different though.

I would be hugely interested to see how Hopkins' chin fared against Moorer's punch.

Moorer was so inexperienced, I'd be surprised if his punch found Hopkins chin. Nard by wide decision here.

Moorer by brutal KO by the mid rounds. Moorer was a LHW monster and Hopkins was...not even a LHW

Moorer is another one of those guys who benefitted well from Day-before weigh-ins just shortly after the were introduced, because he was quite a large LHW.
Personally I'd say Hopkins is past-prime at the weight, he was probably at his best in the Tarver and Wright fights, since he still had more wind than he does nowadays to go with that guile and grit. So I'd compare B-Hop from a few years ago to LHW Moorer...
In any case I give it to Moorer by close-ish decision, as he was a more physically imposing fighter than the smaller Calzaghe and Pascal and at least had some angles unlike the other big punchers B-Hop has faced over the years.

I'd agree that Moorer is a bigger puncher than the Light heavies that Hopkins has faced. Conversely, Nard is from a different planet from Leslie Stewart who out-boxed Moorer for stretches before losing on cuts. If he couldn't knock out a faded Stewart, I fail to see him knocking out Hopkins.
As a Light heavy, Moorer is one of the most overrated fighters in mythical match ups. He literally did next to nothing there.
