Gruesome it is. But those QLDers are a tough bunch so they'll come through it. They sent a lot of help down our way a couple of years ago when we were on fire and what goes around comes around :TU:

Aussies are tough bunch. Fires are by far more gruesome.
Thanks for thinking of my State neighbours, who are in diabolical trouble. Living on Gold Coast wasn't in danger, but lost sleep with TV & Radio going 24/7 & still going.

Good luck to the Queenslanders, but I still can't understand heavier housing density being allowed in the areas that flooded in 1974.

Bushman's Rule number one re floods. If it floods there once, it will do it again.

I heard they let them build there because the global warming fraudsters had convinced the government that it was nothing but droughts from here on out. A fool a day won't keep the rain away.

god bless and quick recovery to all.

Provide a source. Or is that just drivel?

Don't politicise a tragedy, it makes light of the suffering people have endured.
i think thats a bit naive mate, no offence.

some years ago when wayne goss was premier of the state of qld, he had a fellow named kevin rudd working as his chief advisor.

proposals were in place for another dam to be built that would be connected to the wivenhoe. rudd torpedoed the idea and told goss to spend the $14b somewhere else, hence the run off from the wivenhoe had no where to go but the brisbane river, and then into peoples living rooms, and in some tragic cases even their lungs.

every deicison has ramifications

The other day I donated some money to the QLD flood relief fund. Today I'v been told I'm being taxed extra to help pay for the floods. hmmm, it seems a precedent has been set. I'll think twice in future before donating to a national disaster

fcuk me, considering some people lost their houses, jobs, family members and livelihood. it aint much to pay. if u earn 100k a year its a cup of coffee a week.

i dont think the government could have budgeted for this to be honest

its only supposed to be inposed for the 2011/12 finacial year...by all means, if it carries on after i'll be keen to have a moan.

A couple of my mates and myself were talkin about how sport was doin its bit for the floods, and were wondering why boxing hadn't put on a show to raise some money (i stand to be corrected), but i was thinkin maybe you could have a Queensland vs Victoria card or something along those lines seeing as both states are the where all the major damage has been done?

Great idea. Hopefully a fight promoter or whoever will latch onto the idea and get one organised

I remember during the Ash Wednesday bushfires they had a telethon and Barry Michael was on. I think it was the day after his fight with Frank Ropis. After crapping on a bit Barry read out some donations from viewers and one was from, yep...Frank Ropis :D
