all this talk has got me quite interested in having a first look at him.

I know there are a few Boxing people excited about this latest crop of Brazilian amateurs who are turning pro. Despite the company he has kept Pinto still has an impressive 17 KO's in 19 fights record, veteran Emmanuel Augustus (formerly Burton) and a guy i never heard of called Dago Nejera have extended him so far, apart from these two 10 round extensions in the other 17 bouts he has never gone past 4. Can he last the pace against a classier operator like Witter? It remains to be seen, Witter needs to keep his chin away and cannot afford to let Pinto in like he did against Jurgen Haeck, i go for Witter by stoppage around 6/7 but that's without seeing Pinto so we shall see.

I'm looking forward in seeing Pinto, regardless of who he faces on Saturday (if he faces anyone that is).

But so far we don't really know if Witter has pulled out?

I hope we do get to see him.

He must be in the country by now, anyone know? If he is he'll get matched up.

Allegedly, Sports Network knew that Witter was injured on Friday afternoon after he had had returned from the hospital to have an X-ray (which was subsequently forwarded to the Board). SKY Television were also fully aware of this as they were due to commence filming for Thursday's Ringside programme.

The rumours began over the weekend and from Monday morning Sports Network have been inundated with calls but can only say "no comment, we'll get back to you." Bottom line is that Witter has few allies outside of his own camp, largely because of his comments about Ricky Hatton. No doubt there's little love lost for "The Lord of the Dance". The longer we have to wait for an official announcement the worse Witter is made to look. Would a Witter-Pinto postponement affect ticket sales at the M.E.N? Would it fornicate.

No one is prepared to comment on anything sadly (I havent get hold of anyone connected with Witter or himself). You can argue the toss whether Witter has pulled a fast one, but almost indisputably no one is coming out of the woodwork to do him any favours - that much is clear.

I'm inclined to believe that Witter has injured his hand and that he wasn't 100% before going into a big fight. And, considering the Board have seen the X-ray details you can argue they are satisfied with that as well.

its a shame if Witter is injured (which I believe) but nobody backs him up. Makes him look bad. If RH had an injury the cameras would be there to show on ringside when he visited the doctor!!!

If that really is the case, that is a real shame that Jr comes out of it looking bad. I'm not a big fan, but he deserves a break if he's injured, rather than coming out of it looking like a poof, which is the outcome that seems likely.

True. The only thing I'd say to that is why shouldn't Witter accept his mandatory as offered to him by the EBU? After being pissed about by the WBO for ages he could be forgiven for thinking his world title chance would never arrive. How they could sanction a defence and a fight for the interim title is beyond me. They've allowed Zab Judah to bend the system.

Witter may end up losing his ranking with the WBO now. An EBU title, allowing him to make decent money and a good ranking with other world bodies, is a sensible move.

I believe the injury is genuine. I also believe in Santa Claus and that we're being visited by small green men from Mars.

Let's get this straight - Witter's camp is know to be unhappy with the match, even getting into a public slanging match with Warren about it, then a vacant Euro shot is offered and with days to go Witter pulls out with a "damaged" hand?
Warren must be livid.....

What are these X-rays showing then, a fracture? A break? Seeing is believing I guess...

If I were Witter I'd switch promotional camps. He'd be an asset for the BBC

Pinto was so dangerous? This was a cracking opportunity to shine.

Because it was a tough fight with an undefeated puncher they knew little about, one that Witter could easily lose.

Not the sort of fight Warren would throw Hatton into for instance..

I don't think Witter's camp were so against the Pinto fight despite what allegedly stated. There was talk of the fight being staged in Brazil, maybe that's why there were originally unhappy with things?

I've heard unconfirmed reports that Witter has cracked a bone inside his hand, sparring became increasingly painful. The doctor said he risked making the injury much worse and damaging tendons had he fought. Obviously the Board has to be informed about the X-ray details.

I'm no medical expert so I dont know just how much a hindrance that would be to Witter. He's effectively been out this fight since Friday. It's no secret to his employers or SKY television despite the obscene delay in making this official news.

As SKY were up in Sheffield for filming, I expect to see something on tomorrow night's Ringside programme.

Why don't they just bring in that other guy Antonio Mesquita, for an all-Brazilian face off. Wasn't he no.1 contender at one time?
