Who will win this intriguing fight.

Did Vincent mearly expose and over-rated fighter or has Jimmy really improved. Did the Magee vs Vincent fight demonstrate true level (and thus Barnes)... Or will Barnes have learned from the fight, and handle Vincent with ease should they meet again.

McIntyre has been on a winning run of late, but has been exposed in the past and it is alarming that both his defeats ended inside the distance. For a man of 22 fights his opponents have been very bad and one only has to imagine that he is being protected for a reason.

With that in mind, you'd have to go for Barnes by a mid round KO. But it will be interesting, mainly because both are essentially unknown commodities.

I like the look of him and think he'll go places, even if he was tad lucky last time out.
Vincent was a very tough fight to take for a young prospect, and he showed heart to come through that mid rounds battering.

The one against karim was an injury I think... he was winning against Humphreys before getting knocked out cold i think. however John hits like a mule

At home, I would side with Barnes, though I've heard that McIntyre is quite sharp and he's on a good winning run. He'll certainly be bouyed up by the success of Lawrence Murphy recently.

Haven't seen Mcintyre fight, but i like Barnes. I thought of him highly as a prospect but they took a big step up when they took on Vincent. He was lucky to get the decision in that fight, but did show he could stay in there with an experianced, rough, strong welterweight who was suited to beat Barnes.

David can make light welter apparently, although he may fancy his chances more at welter. Be interesting to know at what weight he sees his future being at.

Mid round Ko - not a bad prediction.

What did everyone think of his performance, at the begining I thought I'd come on here and say that Jimmy Vincent just exposed another over hyped fighter, however, he came on well and showed some good power.

Having said that, the moment I saw McIntyre he had the look of a builked up Lightweight. It looked like boy against man, with the 22 year old being the man this time. He was tough, but simply wasn't strong enough to handle Barnes (as expected).

I think there are lots of half decent fighters who are a step above McIntyre and a step below Magee, Hare, Khaliq and Sinclair (which is the level he should fight against). I'm sure guys like Pryce, Vincent, Dhami, Roache, and all above McIntyre in my rankings would help Barnes learn (and also give us an idea what he is capable off).

Now, I don't want to sound to damning because as Barry said he's just a pup who was under alot of pressure tonight (without his coach!). I just worry people are doing an Alex Arthur on him. I just can't see him going that much futher. He seems a nice lad and I hope he proves me wrong, but I think Vincent will beat him (again). This fight reminded me alot of Arthur vs Limmond, where Limmond showed a few limitation but was hopelessly out strengthed. McIntyre (like Limmond vs Arthur) couldn't hurt Barnes, where as Barnes (like Arthur vs Limmond) was hurting him with almost every clean shot - not wobbling him, but he felt it.

I was also concerned with how he felt that Vincent should only be for a world title shot, I'm not saying he's scared - but he should have the confidence to say "bring it on anytime" to a guy with 17 odd defeats on his record. Most rematches go the way of the original result (quite often in robberies - remember Ampofo vs Armour).

Good post, Stu. Yes, it jarred when Barnes said that about fighting Vincent again. He clearly has no intention of giving him a rematch. I mean, Vincent lost his 'world' title fight last week. So how can Barnes say he'll only fight him again in a 'world' title fight. Crazy.
