What is it with Macklin V Barker?

This fight sees to be totally jinxed and I am not sure whether neither fighters actually want it or it is just a fight destined never to happen.
Originally, it was supposed to happen in September on a Warren bill, then Barker withdrew due to an injury, then it was due in December and didnt happen and now Meaty Mick wins an astounding purse offer to put in on by March (Did he know it would never happen when he put in such an impressive bid I wonder?). Now we hear Macklin has hot footed it to the USA to face an ageing but wily old Winky Wright, the point being, is he scared of Barker?
Massive rivalries are what this sport is all about and with Adam Booth seemingly spending the start of 2011 negotiating his Boxer's 'out' of big fights and these two now avoiding each other like Jordan and Peter Andre, do they not realise the harm they are doing to British Boxing?
Genuine injuries are one thing, but when you hear that Barker was beaten senseless in the street back in July (Although credit to him in many ways for his actions) why did he keep that away from the press and promoters until now? Now Macklin has been involved in a far worse and more ugly incident in Birmingham last week, one wonders whether these two prefer to do their scrapping on the cobbles as oppose to the ring where they get handsomely paid! Surely if Barker had declared the truth at the time he may have been able to keep his european title, just a thought!
Macklin was starting to gain some momentum and fight regulary under Warren and beating Barker would have brought him the world title fight he wants no doubt and in the UK.
If the rumours circulating are true and FW has indeed dumped him due to him being involved in some seriously nasty altercation (he received stiches to his canister after being clobbered over the head and his pal having both legs broken) then one wonders if he will ever reach his full potential inside the ring if this is the lifestyle he leads.
The fact is, regardless of the circumstances, these guys are professional fighters and should not even be frequenting such places where they could become involved in violent incidents that could end their careers or worse. Every drunk wants to whack a fighter don't they?
Promoters always get the blame for these fights not happening but in the case of these two it seems it would be easier to push two magnets together.
Macklin will, I think get old manned and scholled by Winky Wright then it will all be over for him anyway. Does he think Golden Boy actually want him to win over there against Wright?
Come on you lot get these fights on IN THE RING AND OVER HERE!
