certainly a step up....vastly experienced...durable...stopped Corrie Sanders in 1.
however, he hasnt fought for a year.....will be short and overweight....
but more significantly has another grudge match with bruiser Anton Nel booked in South Africa two weeks later

At least it's not an Eastern European knockover job.

Price is lagging behind Fury. Fury took on a seasoned British contender in his 8th fight and beat him over the full ten rounds in a championship fight. Fury is younger and was less succesful as an amateur.
There's been big talk about what Price will do, but the proof isn't there.

This will be a decent fight - Machimana will test Price's chin if he lands.

he should have gone with farnkie warren when he had the chanc, would be in a much better place career wise maloney should put him in with dallas or larry o when he promoted him

Yes, a South African knockover job is far more interesting! Hooray!
Seriously though, a slightly more interesting kind of knockover job than we are used to seeing our heavyweight prospects involved in. It'll be nice to see, for example, if Price can match the four knockdown demolition job done on Machimana by the mighty Joseph Chingangu. When Machimana hadn't been out of the ring for a year & was probably a good couple of stone lighter than he will be here.
PS: I'm not bitching like certain of those above (going with Fwank would've deffo seen Pricey fighting Tony Thompson & Taras Bidenko within the first year or so of his pro career, right?) just trying to play down FBB's usual hyperbole. Because, really, if Price doesn't flatten him it's a bit shite, innit?

I think its more a case of hi size and pedigree than promoter.
Look at Fury, no one really knew who he was or what he was about so he got to fight for a championship early but now people have realised that he can do more than just rely on his size and weight he's fighting nobodies and struggling to get sparring partners. The problem with Price is he was known in the boxing world before he turned pro so therefore it was a uphill struggle straight away.

That is an alarming piece of form, especially given Chingangu's age, but it could have been an anomaly. The Sanders win, as mentioned, stands out. Yes, Sanders was old as hell, but it's still a nice name on the record for a "knockover job". He gave Mark Potter a helluva fight too some time ago. It's not the hardest test a prospect has ever faced, but it IS a step up and Machimana does have enough power and guts to provide a few "what if"s.

FW's matchmaking policy does seem to have changed but for every fighter he's brought through quickly you've had a andy morris, Steve Foster or Derry Matthews coming through much slower in sometimes uninteresting ways.
Frank Maloney knows what he's doing - its not been a good ride thus for for Pricey- but i'm sure once he gets into championship class he'll build a bit more momentum- have faith.

am running out of faith its also a joke that price has only fought once in liverpool and that was for hayemaker, common sense would say get him fights in liverpool and he would be a huge ticket seller

Pricey gonna explode this year, be a big year for him, people forget he's only a baby in today's heavyweight terms!! Give him time!! He's an amazing athlete and a top fighter, he'll show all these things in time ;)

Osborne Machimana boxes well enough and can puncha bit, he has some nice moves and rolls well with the punches, but he has been out of shape in some recent fights.
If he comes with ambition, we could see Price tested harder than he has been so far.

Not the biggest call. His opponents have rolled over so far.

we know Price will get iced at b level
but sticking on the 'you know who' promoter thing....my interest in boxing is purely at the entertainment level
and im sorry but said promoter is a wrecker of boxing
and everyone gets conditioned into believing the hype about Pay Per View...its bulls**T --- get boxing back on itv

About time he got an opponent that will make his step up. They need to keep doing that now, step up in class each fight and then we will see how good he is.
Price was great as an amateur, but as a pro not been tested yet so time will tell. Good luck to him though.

Was ringside for Osborne's fight with Mark Potter at York hall. 6'5 240lb, relaxed good boxer can fight inside or outside. At the time struck me as a young version of Riddick Bowe. Had Potter down twice before running out of steam and getting stopped.
Very capable fighter and massive waste of talent. Lovely bloke always happy. And he can bang very very hard. A world class banger. I put him up there with blokes like Cedric Boswell who are unknown but could conquer the world with one punch.
York Hall was packed that night and I said to my mate if we could take him on and feed him put him up etc he could be world champion.
If Osborn is fit he could stop price. But it is a big if

Potential world champ? What winning some plastic bauble or actually the best in his division in the world?
There is a massive difference.

The left hook to the body he took Sanders out with was as sweet a left hook to the body as you could ever see.
Has a low punch output but he puts his shots together with a bit of quality when he does let his hands go.
Surprised he was beat and stopped by Joseph Chingangu but a half decent step up at last for Price.

i agree with you carlos, machimana punches very hard, i remember having a conversation with mark potter after mark got off the canvas twice to stop machimana with body shots.
