Former WBO middle champ Chris Pyatt is making the move into training pro boxers, he's headed the Braunstone and Boxing Academy of Leicester ABCs for the last few years, but wants to give it a go in the professional sphere now.

A couple of his former amateurs are now pro, so he may have a few to bring through with him.

He said: "I want to get to the top as a trainer as well. I'm sad to be leaving the amateurs behind, but it's a lot of hard work for not much reward. I have a lot of respect for amateur coaches, but I feel as though I've served my apprenticeship and it's time to move on. I want to spend more time with professional boxers and work on building up a stable of fighters."

Pyatt added: "I have to prove myself as a trainer and the only way to do that is to take fighters to the top. I've got a couple of very good fighters at the moment and more will come to me if they are successful."

Chris Pyatt certainly knows his stuff from a technical standpoint but as far as I can tell, even being a professional trainer can be a lot of hard work with little reward. I trained at his gym a few years back for a few months and it seemed to me he'd lost a bit of passion for the sport. As I say though, that was a while ago and fair play to him if he's got the enthusiasm back. Maybe he needed the challenge of training pro's to re-ignite his passion for the game. I suppose training amateurs can get tedious, especially when you have no-hopers like me drifting in and out of the gym! Good luck to him!

pyatt was a world class fighter, he could mix it with the best & knows what it takes. im suprised he develled in the ams as it's completely diffrent these day's.

Not many stood up to Chris Eubank at full steam in the gym and came back for more like Pyatt did. Pyatt and Eubank sparring, when both were world champs, made Benn/Eubank look positively tame. Top class boxer and will be a top class trainer in time, he has vast experience and has done it all.

He was good to watch, i really thought he had a chance against John David Jackson, but the american put on a boxing show that night.

Pyatt is half-American. A smooth fighter with a great left hook, "Bobo" never developed as I thought he would in the pros; he never really got the jab working. Pyatt had the potential to do much more than he did.
