Who's the main event?

Interesting fight , botha is well past his best but has more name value than anyone fury has fought so far , id expect a routine win though

i know botha is far from his best but i think he should push fury all the way, its only his 12th or 13th fight, his had sparring with wladamir recently and dont forget his still only 22 ! fair play to fury, british heavyweights have some real prospects at the moment,

It's an interesting match up that's for sure. I would've thought Botha would have been too expensive. Maybe he's short of cash and taking whatever jobs he can get?

Not sure this is happening... pretty certain the Board knocked Botha back last week

Well, I don't think Botha should have been knocked back, but I'm kind of glad its not happening. Fury would win pretty comfortably.... Botha is a 4 round fighters these days and can you just imagine the hype had he won.

TBH I think the Board might have done Tyson a favour if they knocked this one back. Botha might be an old 'un now but someone of that level of experience might, in the oft-used words of Brendan Ingle, stand him on his head — not sure Tyson has the seasoning to be facing former world champs yet.

Botha wasn't a world champion, unless you count his WBF title.

Yeah he tested positive for steroids after his IBF title win against Axel Schulz, but in the true spirit of boxing his next fight was for the IBF title against Moorer.

If Botha is anything like he was against Holyfield, forget it, Fury wins easily by decision.

Hennessys policy at the moment seems to be to have fury fight aload of shot worn fighters!lol.Why dont they just put him in with the likes of price,dallas,etc to see if he is good enough.

I heard maloney saying very recently that he'd be up for making that fight with price now if fury an hennessy were up for it.

well i was referring more to the botha fight,the mcdermott fight was a good test and step up but rich power is a virtual nobody and well botha is well past his sell by date!

is Hennessy going to get a TV deal for this bill? some really good Boxing, two title fights and Mr Fury against someone, it could be anyone really because he always has a change of opponent.

It would be amazing if Premier Sports gets this, but Bellew v McKenzie II is on Sky the same night.

The short version is this - the fight was made subject to Boad approval. Somene leaked to the papers. By the time they used it - as you can imagine not being regarded as hot news by them - the Board had rejected Botha's application to box here. Put it this way - Hennessy has a show in less than 4 weeks in a big venue. Botha is a name if nothing else. So wouldn't HS have sent out a press release by now?

I've just seen a Hennessy press release saying this is happening, dated Saturday. I'll speak to the Board and get back to you.

So how is one equal to aload, and how come its his policy at the moment, it hasn't happened and Fury doesn't have a record of fighting past it fighters. I think he is entitled to one.

Just spoken to Robert Smith – this fight is 100 per cent NOT going to happen and this was decided two weeks ago. The Board said maybe there was a breakdown in communication between HS and the foreign agent but it was made clear to HS on Saturday that it cannot happen and they should not advertise it.

As I asked the Hennessy team on another thread, which they studiously refused to answer HAVE YOU GOT TV for this show?

It seems to me that with two British title fights, and even if they were only planning to feature a former name like Botha, plus a large venue that will be hard to fill, this show could cost far more than it brings in if there is no TV money.

I've been told that Showtime are not crossing the pond for it, as they did for the York Hall show last year; Primetime will not be able to pick it up as a PPV unless another TV company is filming the show — unless Primetime is expanding that is, but to date they have only picked up other TV companies' feeds and stuck their own commentary on them; Premier have shown feeds of Setanta fights from Ireland, but as yet have no history of filming mainland shows themselves.

I'm not being aggressive when asking this question, I have no agenda aside from wanting me sense of bafflement to go away because I can't work out how the promotion balances the books financially, so please Hennessy Sports, answer the question HAVE YOU GOT TV for this show? After all, a lot of the people on this forum would want to watch it on the box.
