Who in your view is the greatest Mexican/American fighter of all-time?
One or two on Youtube...elmersalsa wrote:I gotta go with the great Manuel Ortiz... A very underrated fighter. Made about 16 title defenses in first reign, something like that, for a period of 5 years and then regained the bantam crown from Harold Dade in 1947. Are there videos of this great fighter?
Agreed. One of the top two bantams of all-time.kikibalt wrote:Ortiz, hands down. Other than Canizalez I seen all fight live.....

I think Michael Carbajal deserves a mention as well though, his prime didn't last long thanks to getting his face shredded on a constant basis but he was a tough and exciting little guy and the way he ended his career by knocking the crap out of the young version of the granite chinned Jorge Arce is very impressive.
Somewhat overlooked, but I always wonder if Carbajal's lifestyle didn't have some impact on his short prime as well. "Food," for thought, at any rate. Carbajal could really pack it on, & went through hell to make Flyweight.Diamond WEAPON wrote:Ortiz is somewhat of an obvious #1 with Canizales being the other guy with a serious argument. Possibly. He didn't drain much, as shown where he was just 112 against Matlala on fight night, so almost all of his weight loss was straight up fat, which makes it more dramatic considering he was about 5'5".Goodnight, Irene wrote:Somewhat overlooked, but I always wonder if Carbajal's lifestyle didn't have some impact on his short prime as well.
