'The toughest white guy on the planet', according to Tyson...
I know that because he was dishing out dozens of postcards saying it at an event in Llandudno last year!

Actually he fought as an amateur for Ireland. Seek out the footage of him versus Wells of England on YouTube - I guarantee you will enjoy it and chuckle! That's a promise or your money back.

i thought he was a self publicised hard man, with the tyson stuff. i found his pro record & it's poor he lost to a bum on a 7 fight losing streak he was 4-1-0 i think the opponents had 80 losses between them so maybe he aint the baddest white man on the planet, maybe tyson had irony to his armour.

Joe fought Lennox Lewis in the amateurs. His fight with Wells is fun and shows he can fight; he hangs in there with the Olympic bronze medallist.

Joe is a good actor, working hard to make a career as one, and he has done a lot of films over the past two years. He appears in the first Sherlock Holmes film ("first" as in, with Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law) as "Big Joe", he has now been cast in the second and third films, which are being shot back to back. The second one is released at christmas.
Sherlock Holmes aside, last year two feature films he appears in got cinema releases, Freight and Dead Man Running. Pretty good going for somebody trying to break into the business

mate he was c%^p in that fight, he was in his early 20's tyson was about 16/17 at that time tyson's team was was paying $1000 a week for sparring, joe wouldn't have lasted a round with tyson , so i cant see them paying for joe, the real story was glenn McCrory was the one doing all the sparring, when tyson said to joe about the toughest white man on the planet he was taking the piss,

Tyson wrote the intro for Egan's autobiography, and praised him most effusively in that.
I don't believe that this may have been the result of a monetary transaction. I'm sure we all agree that Tyson is as pure and noble a man as has ever walked the earth, and surely would not stoop to such things.

tyson is a gent & egan is his friend is he not simply helping him out??? it is a massive selling point is it not.
tyson could turn round & say he's the toughest i ve torn him plenty of new one's

It's not clear to me what overall point you're trying to make, but A) "Foreword by Mike Tyson" is not a massive selling point (maybe it might make a few absolutely obsessive fans of Tyson buy a book that they wouldn't otherwise have done, but surely not very many people); and B) If Tyson had written something that said he'd "torn him plenty of new ones" (with or without apostrophes and pictures of laughing faces), it simply wouldn't have ended up in the published book.
Do you mean he could easily write something complementary and then deny it later? Probably, yeah. I'm sure a big bag of money wouldn't go amiss to do so. As you say, the man is a gent.

what so writing a "tough guy" book, stating that possibly the most feared heavy of alltime referred to you as the toughest aint going to create big attention.

Well, it's been out for a few years now and I haven't seen any 'big attention' (even though it has a forword by Micky T). Nor is it anything I'd be inclined to call a 'tough guy book', but there we are.
I really think we might be talking at cross-purposes somehow, though.
