What's the average ticket price there, and does anyone know if there is a standard 'cut' the fighter gets of gate receipts?

The annoying thing about allegedly's cronies coming on here to snoop, is they could actually answer questions such as these and contribute in a worthwhile fashion. Instead, you get the kind of attitude one of our members got yesterday when he phoned up Sports Network to enquire whether they had signed up Danny Williams. He was told they know nothing about it!

What I do find a little odd, is that people in the states seem to know what Big name fighters get paid, whereas over here it's a mystery.

It's not just Sports Network who are secretive about it either, I remember Frank Maloney on some programme, getting very iffy about cameras being around when money was being talked about.

I don't really see the need for such things being so cloak and dagger, it lends and air of seediness to the proceedings

It would be nice if there was more information available without feeling like you have to winkle it out by hook or by crook.

To be honest the business side of things remains something of a mystery to me, and short of being pally with a fighter or promoter, or actually being involved in promotions in some way, I don't see any way to get access to that information. I may be wrong, but there seems to be much less communication between journalists and the boxing establishment here than in the USA. Having said that, maybe some people have an inside line I am not aware of.

It would be interesting to get allegedly's participation in some form on a boxing forum or website or Richard Maynards, but as Harry Hill is often heard to say....

"What are the chances of that happening?"

I heard Hatton was on around 250K per fight...

Whatever, its going to be a great night, a few upsets though.

That is certainly worth a bet.

Tackie has a great chance of upsetting the odds this weekend and KO'ing Hatton.

I fear that Hatton will not box like Tzsyu and Mitchell to get the win. I fear he will go straight in and brawl with the man.

If you look at how Tszyu beat Tackie so well, he went straight out there and threw lots of quick straight punches on half power. He did it from round 1 to 12. Hatton must do the same as best he can. He must throw lots of punches right from the start but not commit too much. One thing he can't do is wait around to see what Tackie has got.

i've been given 5 to 2 on tackie at william hill- but the KO odds are out tomorrow. do you think the odds would reach 5 to 1 on a tackie stoppage? i'll be putting 20 quid down.

I might take a stroll down the bookies tomorrow and try my luck on getting the round.

I really hope Hatton wins, but I'm getting a growing feeling he might be in for a shock. It's being shown live in Ghana, so Ben is gonna be really up for this one.

Yes, a bloodied Hatton on points. If Hatton had bombed out that Argentinian lightweight in a couple of rounds in his last fight, I would definitely have fancied Tackie. But Ricky got in nine good rounds in that fight in September, and he'll be nice and sharp.

Incidentally, Barry McGuigan is seemingly the only boxing man to mention Tackie's warm-up fight in October in Accra (he mentioned it on 'Ringside' tonight). Everybody else (including allegedly's website and of course Steve Bunce), say that Tackie lost to Tszyu and Mitchell in his last two fights.

Yeah I'd say that's the logical pick, Hatton on points surviving a few scares on the way.

That would have been a very good idea, but I think it's just normal size. This board came in very handy on Monday, with the rumours of the Witter pullout. BN didn't know anything about it till they saw it here. They were thus able to hold fire on the preview layout till the pullout was offically announced on Tuesday night. BN goes to press on Tuesdays, so they could have been in shit street otherwise.

Rios fought the entire bout in retreat mode, and offered very little in the way of offence, Tackie has little or no defence, and simply marches around the ring pressing the fight, what happened against Rios is no indication of the outcome of this fight, Tackie and Rios could hardly be more different!

Great crowd, and Hatton to break tackie up for a stoppage, that body is just there to be abused :)

Look for Tackie's head to play apart in opening up cuts on Hatton - could be an upset on the way....

I tell you what - Tackie is one scary looking dude - talk about death warmed up - he looks like an extra from a Zombie Film!

I remember reading in a book about African fighters (Dancing Shoes is Dead maybe?) that alot of African fighters are traditionally vulnerable to body shots due to diseases such as bilharzia (Sp?) which are almost endemic in some regions.

Maybe there is hope for Hatton - cos the more of Tackie I was seeing the less I fancied Hatton - that KO of Garcia was BRUTAL!

Tell you what I've been to most of Ricky's fights, and I found myself looking around at gaps on Saturday night for the first time.
What was officially announced as the attendance ?
There wasn't 22,000 there.
I wonder if the Manc football derby earlier in the day had an impact plus of course Christmas.
I don't think Ricky's earning as much as people think - but Warren is coining it in.
