paul smith has joined joe gallagher and is looking what to do next.
will he stay at middle and try and beat groves or degale or will he go up to light heavey for a crack at bellew.
the supermiddle prizefighter is comeing up soon,
or a move to middle would be great in my eyes.
he would bash up up british champian darren barker and commenwealth champ martin murray.
so beat murrey then mabe a clash with barker with the european title on the lind ( if mathew macklin vacates )
but i actully think the future is bright for paul '' smigga '' smith

Barker would box Smiths ears off&i dont think he would beat Murray, but that would be a good fight...

as much as i like barker i have to say he aint in the same league as james degale and smigga is very strong.
but i got to say imagine this

the winner of smith - barker to fight the winner of macklin - winky wright, with the winner of that to fight for a world title :bag: :box:
now theres a thought

I'd love to see Paul Smith get down to middleweight if possible. Smith, Barker, Macklin, Murray all roughly the same age, all at their own crossroad so to speak, all pretty even in terms of ability in my opinion. If there any chance of Murray or Smith stepping in to fight Barker now that Macklin has gone over the pond to fight Wright?

Smith can still play a big part on the British scene, and could even be plucked out of the air to challenge for the European title at some point. Forget about DeGale, that's nonsense...If DeGale can beat Smith the way did after just 9 fights...well, not hard to work out what will happen as DeGale improves further. World titles don't sound realistic, but Lockett came from nowhere to land a very fortunate title shot, so you never know.

I'm a fan of Paul Smith.

He showed a lot of heart and determination against adversity in the last couple of years and that's got to be really admired. With the cuts, going out on his shield against Degale etc.

He's not a meat head either. A couple of British boxers get out on the lash, on the marching powder after a fight - more obsessed with their image and ego than the sport.

But Smith took his young family to Disneyland for an extended holiday after Degale and is an honest pro.

It's a FACT Paul Smith will be a world champion when he was beaten pretty easily by James DeGale? Erm...

Barker would box his ears off in my opinion.

Tough fighter, but you're asking way too much of him pal. He'd certainly have a chance with Murray, Macklin, Barker and co, but I think he'd fall just a little short against all of them.

I may take that bet as well mate!

he got beaten pretty easy by degale, he was out his depth in weight & class. the stoppage wasnt a bad one but he wasnt gonna do much but ship punches. so it was a compassionate stoppage with him under fire & getting easily backed up.

at middle he's a top fighter. good domestic & can entertain top class imo.

I think thats the best thing for him to do now. Go back down to middleweight. Where perhaps his power will have a little more effect. He performed ok at super-middle. Won the british title. But can do so much more, and I think down at middleweight is the place for him to do it.

Don't know why, but always thought Smith vs Barker would be a fantastic match up and one the has got to be made.

There is something obvious and it is a FACT - Smigga is a top man and one hell of a courageous fighter - however he is a domestic class boxer and he has done nothing in his career against European or World Class boxers to prove otherwise.

Smith had his first fight as a professional on 5 Apr 2003 - and to date he has yet to fight for a title that proves his cedentials nearly 8 years later.

In June 2008 he lost against Steve Bendall - FACT

In October 2009 he was involved in a titanic struggle against Tony Quigley which he won narrowly on a SD - FACT

In December 2010 he got comprehensively beaten against James Degale - FACT

So on each and every occasion Smith has had a chance to step and prove his European or World Class credentials he has come up short.

I have nothing at all against Smith - however what I am continually flaberghasted at is people like yourself making continued wild claims that Smith is going to be a world champion? Please could you educate me as I simply cannot see on what basis you make your prediction - Smith has now been a professional boxer for nearly 8 years and has yet to prove anything beyond domestic class.

I will stress again Smigga is a top man and a bloody courageous and guttsy fighter - but that does not give his deluded fans any form of basis to make claims that he will be a world champion without having any FACTs to back up such claims.
