for each boxing show???
is there a set amount or does it depend on the show being a world title , british title etc etc etc

Obviously not as much as they used to........shows would be bigger and better if Sky loosened their purse strings a bit. Would be able to get better standard opponents over from the States etc.

No they pay exactly the same amount for each fight regardless of how many buys they think it will do..................
They paid the same for Lewis - Tyson that they did for Khan - Fagan.....
Sounds crazy, but its true!

No offence, but do you have the mental age of a child, or something?

Sky don't pay a great deal. Per normal promotion, with say a British title fight as top of the bill and an eight rounder as chief support, they'll pay around 80k. Remember that is for everything, all fighters and opponents, venue, medical staff and ambulances, BBB of C officials etc. As I say - not a great deal

Which pays the pot for the Prizefighter and then Barry sells out the venue with low risk, guaranteed product and a sellable franchise that EVERYBODY understands.

For Lewis - Tyson they paid around £0.
But they had to give something like 90% of the income from PPV buys to the promoters.

Prizefighter is onto a winner there .
80k isnt that bad per show really , the type of main event bouts we get each weekend wont eat a significant chunk of that , take last weekend for example id say booth was on around 10k (its a guess before anyone jumps down my throat) , if his opponent was on a similar amount or less , the rest of the card are proably not going to eat up even half of the rest of the money , theres still all the medical people and security and bbboc staff etc etc to pay but id guess theres going to be maybe 15k of the 80k left over plus the ticket revenue , not too bad i suppose .
Now im no expert on this and im only speculating , please no one burn me at the stake if im wrong .

It's that simple, really is. A licence to print money being a Promoter is. I'm surprised you havent taken a licence out to reap the rewards instantly!!

no way does 80k cover the boxers purses. i know what alot of guys get and i can tell u that between the booth fight and the david price fight, more than half that money is gone, trust me

You're right but that is about accurate. Its even less if a Commonwealth title fight is top of the bill and slightly more if an EBU is top of the bill. Don't forget that with TV comes decent sponsorship and the promoter will also get local 'opponents' in so say the bill was in Liverpool for instance, they'll get in an opponent from nearby when possible, so as the kid can sell some tickets.
So on top of the 80k, they can also make the money up from ticket sales and sponsorship. The promoters do this successfully and obviously come out the other end with a profit - if it was easy, everyone would be doing it!

Dick head , why make a sarcastic comment when i clearly stated i was only guessing , using fees stated by other people from other threads as a guide, I know fighters arent paid as much as people imagine they are , as im a white collar promotor so ive spoken to several pros/ex pros , one or 2 of which box for me now , none of them are hardly headliners but the higher up the echelons they are the more public their finances become anyway.
Anyway the fact i stated i was no expert on the subject was enough to suffice that i shouldnt get sarcastic comments , surely a more constructive comment was a better way forward , rather than hammer anyone who says something you say is wrong why not correct and explain why , for all we know know your the one chatting bolox .
Like larry did , he said the price and booth fights took up more than half that 80k , thats a fine comment , he said nothing sarcastic , stated what he thinks , which we have no reason to disbelieve .

Booth v arthur was made around 3 weeks before the show wasnt it ? so taking that into account i guess more was paid anyway .
Just guessing as i said but bear in mind when Khan said he offered McClosky 5 times his biggest purse it was revealed the offer was 80k , and thats for a euro title holder . using that logic hes been getting around 16k , in fact as his best ever purse , maybe that explains were i was coming from with my guess .

Don't worry about it. The promoters don't seem to like it when we talk about money on here!

Ignore him mate, rarely makes a constructive contribution to a thread.
You think he'd shed some light on the questions posed, rather than trying to be a smart arse.

ive heard that 80k figure before but also remember that the promoter will have other areas of money coming in also from sponsorship etc

although you have to include ticket sales and sponsorship, etc into the overrall amount to pay all the costs.

How much is made on ticket sales ? depends on how much of a cut the fighters get off them but id say £20k on avergae every 1000 sold , thats as getting £20 on each ticket , of course some will be less after the fighters etc have taken their cut but some tickets are more like £100 each so id guess working it out as 20k per thousand sold wont be all that far off .
plus sponsership etc , all mounts up . so id say its around 120-150k per sky show that a promotor gets to work with depending on a few factors , such as a bigger name fighter will attract more ticket sales and sponsership revenue .

i think booth may well have been on 20-25k and arthur maybe 15-18k.... when esham pickering fought seah hughes in burton a few years ago, eshams purse was 16k.... he then has to pay trainer etc out of that. i think esham ended up with 12k in his pocket.

I have worked with a lot of promoters in Boxing over the years and some have had to shut up shop others sail close to the wind,I believe into day's market there are not many making to much money. I bet if you got one of them to talk they would tell you they are getting less money now from TV them they got in the 90's plus vat has gone up. How many of today's TV promoters have got big sponsorship deal's. I watched Maloney's show on sky the other night it did not look to full to me. You only have got to go to company's house to see their account sheets to see how well they do. If is was the eases would there not be a lot more doing it. I know of 2 young fighters who boxed on small hall shows and did not do very well with ticket sales and after fighting were told they had no wages to come that how a lot of these promoters are getting by now. I will bet anyone on here that we will lose some of our small hall promoters and may be bigger one's over the next few years if the market out there does not get better and more than one TV company come into boxing. Sky can paid what they like as they our the only game in the park right now,There no where else for Warren, Matchroom, Maloney or the Hatton's to go and look at the number of shows they are running less than before i hear. If you know your boxing let see if any of you can name promoters who have gone under.

That's terrible for those two young boxers and shame on the promoter. I know it's a catch 22 situation - without a promoter you don't get fights, the promoters can't put on shows without the boxers, but professional lads fighting for nothing is a disgrace. I wonder how common an occurance this is in this country? I've read that this is fairly common in Australia where lads get paid from selling their tickets. Makes you wonder if it's worth getting punched in the head for such little reward.
