Im all for Aussie fighting each other. Its about time they had even matchups. Ive been saying it for years. Im not blaming Fox either, They have no idea. Its the Promoters and Matchmakers who are at fault.

I just checked the ANBF site, How did Omar get to the number 2 spot at Middleweight?. He fought his last fight at SuperMiddle.

I remember getting an Email about forsyth's Weight, And becuase i didnt have it in time the ANBF wouldnt rank him at Cruiserweight. :shame: .

And im in no way saying Omar isnt a good fighter. Just that the Rankings are all over the place. Thats just one example.

Also, If Fox arnt going to put on Regionals, We arnt going to see the Best aussi Fighters fight. Guys like Medley, Geale, Thomlinson etc etc etc arnt going to fight for the Aus title are they.

So its a double edged sword in my opinion. They need to have Regionals, What is wrong with the Better Aussie guys fighting each other for a Regional Title?

I can't see a problem Shaick elevated to #2. Care to explain why he should be??
You're welcome to call Hoggy - Touch easier than studying the form
John Hogg asked me to contact you re Forsyth's weight before he locked shop for the month (so to speak) which you failed to do in time. Therefore, he naturally left him @ heavyweight until following month. However, had Forsyth thrown in a challenge or Ammann wanted to defend (mandatory) there wouldn't have been a problem.

Possibly no drama if opponents have credible record. Care to know how many requests I had to update opponent's record prior to fight?
Strange how no-one ever bothered 'til they're matched to fight in OZ......Regional title in particular

I think it is a great idea for the top ten guys at each weight to fight each other who cares what title is up for grabs as long as they get it on.
I can tell you for sure more fighters would contest the Aussie title if they are offered more $2500 the min Should be $4000.
There should also have mandatory defences and don't rate the guys who have moved past Aus title level as they are not going to fight for it. Maybe even purse bids the top promoter could bid to keep the title moving on Fox??

Minimum is 3k, which is a starting point in process of negotiations.
Mandatory defence is due every 6 months, which means:- Champ has to defend against highest available contender
Regional titlists are rated 'cos they might ditch regional title in favour of OZ title ( which happens often 'cos they only contested the title for $$)
World (whatever it might be) titlists are not rated.
Some (living in imaginary world) request they not be rated.

I think Mitreski, Bryant and Daniel Dawson( Who is no longer fighting at 154) should be ranked higher at Middle. . At the end of the day though, Shaik beat Piper who was obviouslly highlly rated at Super Middle weight. So his ranking would have jumped way up. Plus Hogg was on hand to see it

Ratings ain't based on what one sees. They're based on whom they beat in division they choose to be rated in.
e.g. If a middleweight #5 beats super middle #2 @ the weight, it'll do SFA for his middle rating

Interesting point, hadn't looked at it from that point of view, that will be disappointing, however thats a decent looking card at mansfield.

Hopefully this brings a bit more meaning back to the Aussie Titles and we'll see better fighters holding them and better match ups as well. Good move I reckon.

This is certainly a step in the right direction for bringing back the prestige and respect of the national title, but we also need more competitors and more credibility for the sport.

Da voice if it is true that minimum is 3k. Why was i offered a shot at the Oz title last year they told me highest offer they could make me was $2500. 6 weeks hard training for that please.

Sorry! I should've made myself a bit clearer. 3k minimum applies to defending champ.
Challenger's & Vacant title purse is negotiable.

will the Smith vs Shaw fight still be on seeing as Smith just lost his title?

He didn't lose his title. They fought @ light welter & Asis hasn't been in Oz long enough to be eligible to contest Oz title.
He got beaten up pretty bad, but has got heaps time to recover

He got knocked down 4 times. I'm not sure he should be fighting Shaw in 6-7 weeks.

Smith is the only Australian Asis has beaten. Shaw has lost his last four fights.

Doesn't look like much of a fight.

Well, I wouldn't be so dismissive there Brute old boy, well matched fights are the key to good fights, last night Kashif Mumtaz 6-20-1 fought Fale Siaoloa 6-19-1 for a split decision. I did not see the fight, but it sounded like it was a cracker, close and down to the wire. I'd sooner see a close, well matched fight like this than, say Pacquiao-Clotty.

I still think the Australian Champion should be the best fighter in his division in the country.

True, I cannot argue with that.
