l see Ben Edwards is back boxing 18th Feb in Canberra. Good to see hope he stays with boxing, Australia needs heavyweights that are willing to have a go. Alex Leapi, Lucas Brown and Ben Edwards all seem willing to have a go, unlike some of the others who say l cant fight him hes my brother. All the best Ben.

Yeah its great news, theres a phenom builiding in K1 in the form of Alastair Overeem and I think Ben Edwards dosent see anyone getting past him so hes back to the Boxing.

Not complaining though I think Ben Edwards is great for heavyweight Boxing down under. More fun to watch than most because of that power.

He had an mma bout lined up which has been delayed.... no point hiding behind and fighting guys with 2-35 records for the sake of picking up a win- padding records. Might as well have a crack at Ben. It will be entertaining

It will that - not one for the boxing purist though (not that I am)

Of the subject but does anyone know where my thread has gone? it seems to have been erased.

It was the thread on SBW vs Hatton.

I think it got cut because it was a shit thread. How would a proffesional light-welter/welter beat a professional heavy. Back to the this thread does anybody know why Ben Edwards has been so in-active?

If Ben had the right training and a few years in boxing he would knock Overeem into next week.

Yeah maybe but when they fought that wasnt the case was it and thats probably why Ben is back in the Boxing. Ben I think couldve been discouraged by his encounter with Overeem he gave it everything he had and Overeem just wore it like a t-shirt, in the end Overeem had the better Boxing.

Oh its very possible, is SBW your idea of a professional heavy is he?...not even a real boxer lol

Yes I agree that Overeem wore the punches well and timed his counters to perfection, but Ben being on a high KOing Paul slovinski in the first round to Qualify and being a bit of a novice boxer worked far too hard and left himself open and will learn a lot from the experience.

Oh ok didnt mean to anger anyone it was just a debate I was having with another and wanted to get another perspective on it and thought why not go to a Boxing forum.

My thoughts about the matter was due to what I saw in my gym and other gyms and my own personal experiences in Boxing.

Thanks for the responses from all including Hounddawg who had some very good points to share.

Heres a little video its MMA but its kind of related to my now erased thread...

Apologies for disturbing this thread also.

Well he's had 3 pro fights - so yeah I guess that meets my criteria for a pro boxer.

Yeah I know what you mean yid. I'd love to spar Sonny, not too sure about Ricky though.

Yeah definately Bens an exciting fighter and I hope he sticks with Boxing. In that fight he did go a bit all out straight away, which is sometimes good but Overeems more methodical approach and experience kept him composed and sharper.

Ben is no doubt far better than what he showed against Overeem.

It looks like sams got his way. Hatton is one of my favourite fighters He boxed alot of the same shows as my cousin so got to see him alot but he's 10 stone (maybe now he's 15 stone) I'm not too sure why you'd rather be punched by Heavy rather than a light-welter.

Sonny's not that much of a boxer its clear that hes been taught wrong. Im about the same height as Sonny and Id catch him with 2 punch combinations, hes never fought anyone with experience and height, he also showed against Lewis he doesnt like pressure fighters and deals with it poorly. As far as power goes, Sonnys shown me nothing.

Nah yeah Id definately go a few rounds with Hatton lol (despite what I said before). Id expect a lot of inside stuff, uppercuts, hooks, angles and heavy energy-sapping body shots. For my Boxing Hatton would improve me just sparring, Sonny wouldnt. Ive already sparred guys similar and better than Sonny.

Who have you sparred?

Lets just say many kiwi fighters. I started out way back when David Tua 1st hit the amateur scene, even gave him a 'hey man' and exchanged nods in the changing rooms. I was boxing way before Sonny hit a punch bag anyway.
