Im not sure if anyone can help...I know in Barry Hugmans yearbook,he done the full results of the ABAS every year..I only got my first one in 88 or 89...Im looking to get the results for the Norfolk,Suffolk,Mid Anglia&Essex finals&the finals when they all met which would have been the Eastern Counties finals...1985,1986&1987 is what im after...I just wonderd if i could find these out anywhere?? any help will be most grateful....Cheers

I boxed in the ABA's around that time and I remember they used to post all the results local, regional and national in Boxing News. I dont know if they do back issues going back that far, may be worth a try...

I did think about boxing news,i know they had aba coverage in 1988 so no doubt would have in the years before,My collection started in 1988...50-55p the boxing news cost then

That's my era, but Hugman only started detailing the year's amateur results from 1987 while BN would only give Eastern Counties winners, at best.

As stated is what id like to know Bennie..I know back in 1988-89 time boxing news covered a fair bit of the regonial stages&at these times a chap by the name of Dick Futter(RIP)used to cover the norfolk Am game...the reason i want these results is just for my own pleasure...Would the Aba hav a list of all fights in there championship??

A boxing mag just for the Ams...think id started of in London mainly,but then went nationwide..a good magazine

Your best bet is the Boxing News Annual and Record Book, a sort of forerunner to Barry Hugmans 'bible'.

I have the 84 edition which is no ggod to man nor beat for the info you want D

The '84 edition was the last, mate.

Bennie are you from that area? a fair few of the boxers who won them eastern counties ive seen at later years..You didnt tell me how you got the info...

My twin brother fought Honeywood (and lost) and I kept tabs on all the ABA results in the days prior to headguards and computer-scoring, when amateur boxing was still fun. I can remember riding on a train to Belle Vue to watch the ABA semi-finals with names such as Bobby Neill, Wally Bartleman, Tony Burns, Chaz Taylor and BN's legendary and controversial Brian Pigden.
