Tackie struggles a bit on the scales

From allegedly's website: There was drama at today’s weigh-in when challenger Ben Tackie came in 1lb over the 10 stone limit.
Earlier WBU Light-Welterweight Champion Ricky Hatton had successfully made the weight at The Lucid Nightclub in Manchester, hitting the scales at 9st 13 1/2 lbs.
Tackie - who his team insisted had been 10 stone at his hotel - disappeared for 90 minutes in an attempt to lose the weight. But any thoughts that his clash with Hatton at the M.E.N Arena tomorrow night would be a non title affair were dispelled when he returned to weigh in at 9st 13lbs.
On the undercard Anthony Farnell – who is planning to return to light-middleweight, was just a pound and a half over the 11 stone limit.

Hopefully Tackie has had a big struggle, and Hatton's body shots will have maximum effect.

Would anyone dare suggest foul play?

Nice ploy if it were the case - have your opponent squeezing a few extra (unneccasry) pounds off.

I think that this will have little effect on Tackie.

And if ricky is planning on turning this into a war...

Warren's favourite trick is to ask visiting fighters if they want to see a bit of London. They always do, so Warren arranges for them to be driven around the capital for a few hours on the day of the fight. It always wears them out.

Warren is no fool - fair play to him, that is surely no worse then any promoter would do overseas?
Its always fascinating to hear of these ploys - it won't win a fight in itself but it all helps.

Well this is how I heard it from Ricky's team before the fight.
He was 2.5lbs over, and shed this in just over half an hour !
I heard someone say that they suspected Tackie of playing mind games - and maybe he was never over the limit, but forgot to shed some jewellery or something ?
Whatever - the game plan failed.
If he was overweight then that's piss poor prep.
If he wasn't but playing mind games - ta ta failed again.
