Is there anything to stop Sky showing the Hennessey instead?

I wanna watch some boxing on Sat night and would love to see Sky pick up Hennessey's card featuring two proper, British title fights where all concerned are fight, prepared, on notice and ready to go.

Surely this is better value for all concerned than the remnants of what was admittedly a good FW show but events have overtaken them and the show is not what it was originally billed - far from it.

No-one can criticise FW on this one because it was originally a really good show and they have battled hard to keep it in place - but simply upgrading the McDermott v Big Larry fight to the Commonwealth demeans that belt, in my own very personal and humble opinion.

Anyone know if there's any contractual issues to stop Sky showing the MH card?

It would be a shame on Premier Sports, this is the best domestic card they've had! As you said nobody can be too blame for this card falling apart but to be fair McDermott-Larry isn't that bad a main event and not that bad a fight for the Commonwealth, ok they're more deserving fighters of a shot but that's the way it goes

If Sky show it aswell it is giving people no incentive to subscribe to Premier Sports. Premier aren't going to share the rights with Sky or else they would be out of business in a few months.

Premier would have bought the UK broadcast rights, so Sky would need to buy either the same rights from Premier, to show it live, or re-broadcast rights to show it delayed (which kind of misses the point). Hennesey couldnt re-sell to Sky what they already sold to Premier. Makes no sense to Premier to sell on to Sky - most people watching Premier probably do so through a sky subscription, so if Sky had the fight you would cancel the Premier deal wouldn't you?

Contracts is the answer
exactly - and despite some of the very dismissive comments on here, unless Premier have it sewn up tight you never know what may or not be in that deal ...

i doubt it though unless they're complete amateurs and have the worst lawyers in broadcasting! Hennessy would get sued to crap! The only possible way it could work is if sky bought the broadcasting rights off of premier sports but i very much doubt premier sports would want to sell them
