Has anyone here e-mailed "Rocket" yet,
to see how the Roy Tiger Williams autobiography is coming along?

anyone have any info on the progress of Roy Tiger William's autobiography?

if its is ever published it should be interesting.
I think I have heard various stories about him over the years.
From the time he was in the state prision in the 1960's.and volunteered
for some experiments for a little money.like testing a new experimental shampoo
for dandruff and he used it and all of his hair fell out,so he confronted
the guy who was paying them in prison,and threatned to do him bodily inury.
I also heard he did some porn films(im guessing loops back in the
lte 1960's or 1970's.
(of course this all could be just rumour as the co-author may be referring to).

i have an old fight of his on vhs against ernie shavers. seemed to be a tough dude.

I think it was the only time that he was knocked out in his pro career.

Curiously I have been unable to locate much about Roy"Tiger"William's
boxing career on the world-wide web.
Apparently he served time
then became an amateur.
won the Pennsylvania State Golden Gloves title over Roger Russell
turned pro in October 1966
Managed by Mack Lewis and Joe Gramby of Phildelphia.
lost to Jeff Merritt and Larry Middleton
(who became part of Mack Lewis fighters
and presumably a sparring partner to Roy Williams in the early 1970's.
also Roy Williams sat out 1970 due to a bout with hepatitis.

also a newspaper article from October. 1972 wrote that
Roy Williams
was scheduled to fight George Foreman on his barn-storming schedule October.17.1972
at the Eagles club in Milwaukee WI,
but a day before the fight
Joe Gramby called in to call it off because Williams had hurt his hand in training.

anyone know if Roy Williams ever sparred with Ali when he was still
working out of the Fifth Street Gym in Miami or did
Williams only spar with him when they moved Ali's camp
up to Deer Lake?

I wonder who was meaner, him, or George Foreman?

1973 George Foreman was meaner.Roy Williams manager even pulled out of a fight against him,after Foreman's manager called his bluff.

Larry Holmes and Roy Williams had both been sparring partner for Ali around 1973-1975.
Here is what Larry Holmes remembers about Roy Williams from that time.

was it a hoax or they just lost interest?
I would definately read it.

There should be a chapter about the Richard Dunn fight. How in the world could he have lost to him?

Is there confirmation that Williams is even still alive?

I watched the Shavers-Williams bout the other day. I've never seen two guys look SO dead tired at the end of a fight. I mean even in the Thrilla in Manilla they didn't look that gassed. Shavers and Williams both look like they're well beyond spent. When Williams drops Shavers and Shavers comes back in to fight, he just kinda stumbles and falls into him

Sure Roy Williams is alive and a reportedly a busy Doo-Wop singer too.
Is anybody here going to be in Philadelphia next month(on May 19th to be exact)
If so maybe you can ask Roy Williams in person.
He is going to be one of ten inductees into the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame.
Most likely he will sing a song or two(I think he sings under the name Sidiq)
