You clearly have the ability to write, so why not submit a few pieces to, say, Boxrec news and see if you can break through and secure press entry to shows.

Driving, yes, it's a path straight to the top... Spud did it and never looked back!

On a serious note, sure, that's a good idea. My step-brother did something similar with Larry O.

Great post by Lefty, as I have been wanting a similar 'in' to the world of boxing for a while. I'm not looking to particularly make a career out of it, just help out at shows or help out some small boxers at shows and stuff, just for the craic like cos I love the sport! I guess the best way in is to ask, but it certainly does seem to be a daunting thing at times!

If you want to get involved just start hanging round gyms and be willing to do bits of crap for free. The best example was Dean Powell who had no experience of boxing untill he started hanging round gyms and look where he is now, Spud is another example

Yeah i should of said that i cant drive at the mo so that throws a few spanners in the works! :witzend: ......Thanks alot everyone who's given me sound advice though, you lot are a very knowledgebal bunch on here and i respect your opinions even if it seems like i dont at times and make some ill judged threads in relation to fighters or promoters however I admit aside from watching boxing from the outside im clueless about it in regards to the difficulties that promoters and boxers face when things dont go right!Again though, thanks alot :TU:

Fair play Johnny Greaves! Class!

Lefty, there are a good few people out there who would be glad of a helping hand if you offered your services for nothing.

I'm based in Manchester, so looking for stuff round there. Just never been keen on the idea of hanging round gyms being a groupie haha! But if people need help with shows or whatever I'm happy to give a hand.
