I just had a job offer over in Kuwait money is good.... but I don't want to give up boxing is there any boxing going on over that part of the world?...

there are no listed active kuwaiti boxers, or saudi, or Jordanian or UAE... unless theres something going on with the ex-pat community you might be out of luck

Ive seen this but nothing else to be honest

Looks like I could try to get on a few shows in the depths of Europe maybe turkey russia some keep busy fights while I'm away for a year. Deepends on flight prices I guess. I'm with the right manger for this I guess MIckey being one of the biggest agents in europe could be a big help.

if your only going for a year i dont think it will effect your career & if you are coming back alot wealthier it will make training easier.

Mate, there are a few gyms here in Dubai but the standards aren't great overall - there's a reasonably-sized Russian expat community and there appear to be a couple of decent fighters from that contingent, but other than that it's a lot of white-collar stuff etc.
However, we're an hour's flight away from Kuwait and I'm not aware of anything else in the Gulf at all. I've also heard it's the most boring place on Earth if that helps! Dubai's definitely the only place worth living/working if you want to have a decent quality of life in this region to be honest.

Who is a big agent then?? Was my understanding he was used buy a lot of promotors to bring foreign fighters in???

A year out is long enough to affect a boxer who is getting on a bit and hasn't achieved anything yet.

I think you'll really struggle for fights out there. I think you got to way it up - the buzz and rush you get from being a pro and fighting infront of big paying publics in places like the york hall to what I guess would be a bucket full of money and an interesting career and life move. Either way goodluck for your march 5th fight.

Its a shame I was left with a one or the other choice 84 hour weeks starting next thursday for stupid money but im not ready to call it a day in boxing yet.

Fella, as an expat you should know better The Middle East is a big region geographically and very diverse culturally. Places like the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait are completely safe and sitting here in Dubai watching it all unfold in northern Africa is no different to when I was in the UK watching the situation in the Balkans in Europe. Bahrain is obviously closer, but it's an anomaly in the GCC due to the Sunni/Shia situation.

yeah sorry you have a point bit like Haiti disruption affecting Barbados not likely to be fair.....not so sure bout Kuwait though...long their people have coverted the Royal family and Im not sure its all positive.
I used to deal witht he Kuwaitis (KPC) and not many of them had much time for the figure heads in charge i can assure you...then again they were in England when they are speaking so outlandishly..why is that I wonder...

I think you're right in terms of them not having much time for the figureheads, but the vast majority are still very well-off and the one commonality in all these revolts to date has been relative poverty. The Kuwaitis are basically wealthy enough to pay off dissent before it reaches volatile levels.
