Brook offered fights with Cotto and Bundrage

For me, Kell Brook's the better fighter. Kell himself is caught up in the Pacquiao situation - he's next in line for Manny's WBO welterweight title, which at the moment the Filipino has decided to keep hold of.
Meanwhile Don King has offered a fight with Cornelius Bundrage and Bob Arum has offered Miguel Cotto if Kell wants those fights.
Also American Mike Jones is in action at the weekend, taking on Jesus Soto-Karass in a rematch. I'm keen on pairing Brook and Jones together - I've already held talks with his promoter, Bob Arum.

Are you stuck in time? Fight was last week.
I can give you the lottery numbers if we split it 50/50.

Brook-Cotto

Bloody hell, that would be a bit of a jump in class. I can't see Fwank throwing Kell in so deep after what happened to Mitchell against Kastidis.
Bundrage on the other hand would be a very tough but certainly winnable fight.

Yeah, Brooks best opponent is a bloke that Cotto battered; Kell didn't exactly look convincing, and has gone backward in opponent since. Plus he'd surely have to step up a weight and Cotto is fighting Mayorga already.
Plus link is broken.

I'd give Brook an extremely good chance at beating Cotto.

I can see Brook waiting for Jones for the WBO title. I think Bunderage is actually a far more winnable fight, but its not just winning thats important - but the defending. IBF might not be so easily to manipulate than the old faithful WBO.

Brook needs a step up, but to european level opponents imo, he has only really beaten british level and a few commonwealth bums. He is gona find it tough making a leap to world level all in one go. All those mentioned are tough fights, Jones is the one he should be getting.

Agreed and also it's a weight above Brooks best weight. I'd like to see him get a title fight at welterweight where he is best suited IMO. The IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck recently made a defence of his title. He's a tough so and so but that's a winnable fight for Brook.

No disrespect intended; Cotto is a proven full league above anything that Kell has shown. Cotto is a proven destroyer at world level; Brook is excellent at maybe european level but has had no top level world boxers to beat. Cotto has been top level for years.

Glad someone recognises the difference between promise, or looking good at British level and being able to step in with a true world level operator. Seems not many can make that distinction, even some 'experts'. It's why Mitchell-Katsidis was seen as a 50/50 for most and opinions of Kevin change so drastically afterwards. Brook needs to fight some people at a slightly higher level and who can fight back, before we think about the weaker world level boxers, let alone Cotto.

Anyone else think the Arum offer of an 11st title shot is to stop him pressing for the WBO mandatory shot, thus enabling Pacquiao to have a much bigger-name (therefore higher-grossing) fight?

Fighting Cotto at light middleweight would be silly, imo. It's a huuuuuge step up. However, fighting Bundrage at light middleweight, for the IBF strap, seems like a nice prospect. Brook could then drop back down to welterweight and challenge for the IBF there, against Zaveck, like Black Panther suggested above.

Cotto would be far too big a step up, Jones would be his best bet and at his natural weight

Rather than prove himself able to compete at that level by beating a contender; there's more than a good chance that K9 would be far too tough a proposition. No matter how good Brook looks in the gym, there's been a few very good, can't miss prospects that have been clocked when they've stepped up without acclimatising.

Who do you think would be easier to beat, Jones @ 147 or Bundrage at 154?
I think Bundrage because he's squat and relatively easy to hit.

Brook needs to prove he can even survive in the ring with a world class boxer. He has not been hit hard once. He may well find things too hot when he finds he's in the late rounds with a strong man who is hitting him hard and wants to win bad.

I've only seen the one fight of Jones (Karass I) and he looked athletly quite good, good reach, fast hands but his defence was terrible and I think that Brook could counter Jones' jab all night long maybe even stop him in the middle rounds.

i think if he takes either of these if these he gets twatted.
Ive seen nothing to suggest brook is at cottos level yet and brundrage would be too big.
Its obvious that Kell has talent but seriously to put him in with these guys at this stage with the lack of world class opponents would set him back years.
Too much jingoistic flag waving on this guy on here. He struggled with jennings for fucks sake.

Agreed, he needs nurturing. And by that I don't mean fighting bums for ages, I mean he needs bringing on gradually, step him up to euro level, get him some proper euro names on his record and a euro belt, or get him some guys who have been on world level and are proven 12 round fighters. He won't have learnt much from his knockover wins. He needs much more battle hardening before putting him near some of those names mentioned.

This guy would be perfect for Brook at this stage IMO:

He got comprehensively beaten by Jennings but has improved since then, was the European champion and holds a win over current IBF champion Jan Zaveck. He has also never been stopped. He would provide a good benchmark sort of fight for Brook as opposed to his recent opposition.

I would wager that Brooks first "World Title" fight will be for the WBO belt currently held by Pacquaio. Not in a fight with Pacman, but as soon as he vacates or is stripped I expect to see Brook in a fight for the vacant title against a competitive but not dangerous opponent - someone like Clottey, Malignaggi or Jackiewicz. It certainly won't be against a proven world level operator like Cotto or a risky fight against someone as wily as K9 or, god forbid, the most genuine of the Welterweight Titlists, Andre Berto. Why go the hard route to a championship when a softer path will open up eventually?

Good call.
Crazy to suggest Brook would walk through fights with Bundrage and Cotto. He's got to get a few fights more under his belt at fringe world level first at WW. Get a ranking with WBA and IBF as he's not going to get a look in at Manny's WBO title for ages. The title held by Manny is worth too much to the WBO.
