WBC and Ryan Rhodes

So that 'great' servant of boxing Jose Sulaiman (sickbag please), has said that the reason that Ryan Rhodes was not considered for the WBC championship, was that Rhodes was unavailable!

So was Rhodes contacted and asked?

the most surprising thing here is that people remain surprised by the actions of the WBC. For decades these unelected, unaccountable, selfish and probably dangerous organisations have been making decisions for the good of their own bank balances (the organisations' balances I mean, not individuals within the WBC) rather than for the good of the Sport or the boxers they purport to serve.

I don't the man but know someone who did; apparently Ryan had a good head on his shoulders when he was younger; I can imagine now he knows that the only thing he can do is stay in shape, keep improving and maybe he'll get the call up; he can't (and won't) wet his pants coz the world of business and boxing isn't pulling his way. It isn't fair; what is in life? If he keeps on going he may get where he wants to get; if he moans to the press he'll look immature and that's not his way at all.

Best of luck Rhodes, :box: keep within the weight and sharp and when the chance comes you'll be the one with an advantage.

Even JMM mentioned that Rhodes should have got a shot ahead of Canelo and Hatton (although he referred to Rhodes as the "british guy").

Hi gents,

the trouble is, when the title was declared vacant and "Alvarez vs ANYONE" was decided (what with Canelo being the Silver/Mandatory) there was only 3 or 4 weeks until fight time. While I would have cancelled the Hatton fight and said Alvarez vs top contender should have happened, Alvarez's right is to fight for the vacant title and they simply asked for his existing/scheduled match to get sanctioned.

Would Ryan, or indeed ANYONE, accept a fight against Alvarez for a world title on only 3 or 4 weeks notice?

The problem here is the date determined the fighter and not the other way around.

best wishes,

"T.M.K"

Jose also said that they didn't consider No2 contender Alfredo Angulo as he had been too inactive, Then WTF is he doing at No2 contender then??

HE also said that JMM is jealous , and thats why JMM made comments about this fight.

Will Rhodes not get a shot at Alvarez after Hatton gets beat; Saul is a shoo in for the belt - so might be a way for De La Hoya to build Alvarez over here on the card beside Khan in future?

I really do think Ryan Rhodes deserves his opportunity.

However - I do feel his promoters could do more for him by pushing him into the limelight.

He simply must be kept active and his next fight must be against quality world opposition not some unknown.

Rhodes has been available unless he has been injured.
