I think it's a fight Ryan could win in many peoples eyes but the 3 that really count. He would get jobbed to fook and unfortunately i cant see him stopping the irish drug smuggler.

Since beating Moore(who was also very overrated on BoxRec) Rhodes has been overrated on these forums. He is a good fighter, but even after Canelo's somewhat underwhelming performance, I still think the youngster would win this. Obviously it is a tougher opponent than Hatton, but I believe Canelo would emerge with a 116-112/115-113 type decision.

Now put Rhodes in with Bundradge and he will likely be a world champion.

my worry with rhodes is his inactivity and how he would last over 12 rounds, id favour alvarez to stop a tiring rhodes in 10 rounds

For me its a fight Ryan can certainly win. Alverez is wide open and unlike Hatton Ryan can bang v hard with both hands sooner the fight happens the better :TU:

rhodes would have a better chance than hatton, but i get the feeling alvarez is better against better opposistion, would love to see it happen though :TU:

Not sure Rhodes wins this one.

A couple things, firstly he hits much harder than Hatton and is a better boxer.

Secondly, not sure he will deal with the pressure any better than Hatton.

Thirdly, whereas I could not see Alvarez stopping Hatton, I do see him stopping a tired Rhodes in about 7 rounds.

Rhodes can hit often and hurt him but has a fragile look about him. I know he isnt chinny but I doubt he can handle the heat Alvarez will bring. A Rhodes win isn't out of the question, just unlikely, in my opinion.

Bit harsh, if anything Moore spent most of his career underrated, he was a very unlucky fighter. Losses to Jones and Duran were unfortunate (DQ and hip injury). Seem to remember he gassed against Dixon? Beat himself that night by all accounts. Some great wins on his record......a recurring injury was his toughest opponent.

He was a world class boxer who never got the world title shot he deserved IMO.

+1

he is one of my favourite fighters of all time. I'm not saying he was the best but he is a class act. My family and I were really glad when he retired and got a job with Sky.

You could "consider" him world-class.

I do!

The guys he beat, well he was more than deserving of a world title shot. Every time he looked like going on a run he'd get injured or a fight would be delayed.

He never beat an opponent who was world class at the time though. Maybe Moore was overrated through most of his career, but that was not the case by the end. People on here had him beating Paul Williams. Good fighter but I think he would have fallen short against anyone else in the top ten at the time. Rhodes probably wasn't in the top 25. Another case of the BoxRec boost in my view.

Because people overrated Moore when Rhodes beat him, Rhodes is now in the same spot, at least that is the impression I have gotten when he is discussed on this forum.

I don't recall anyone on here suggesting he could beat Paul Williams. I personally believe Williams would have stopped him.

But he did beat Jujan, who'd been in two title shots just before Moore and who went on to beat Matthyse afterwards. He was no mug, even though it's fair to say he didn't really bring his A-game.

Gave Walker a real beating, and Piccirillo. Was superb v Jones, Macklin and against a string of solid Eastern Europeans and domestic challengers.

Moore was not overrated, though I think the amount of goodwill towards him on Boxrec is down to him being a genuine, realistic and likeable guy, as well as a very good boxer who perhaps never got the breaks he deserved.

Herol Graham never won a world-title but he got the shots.

Jamie Moore will never have that sense of fulfilment.

However, Herol Graham v Jamie Moore would have been a decent fight wouldn't it?

A real clash of styles, the slick, quick boxer with superior footwork against the rugged, hard-hitting in-fighter. That said, Mooresy had some decent skills himself.

Close one to call.....

I dont think Moore would have got near him&Graham would make him look very novicey&win in a very onesided 9-11rnd stoppage..

I like Jamie but I too think Herol would have stood him on his head. Sorry Mooresy.

I'd have bought a ticket though - which is what Jamie always brought - entertainment and value.

Moore was screwed at the weight when he fought Rhodes. He bashed him up for 4 rounds and punched himself out. Alvarez would beat Rhodes comfortably.

I keep hearing K9-Brook for the may 21st show...Surely Rhodes isnt get shafted yet again!! For a fellow Brit who is unproven at his own weight jumping up&getting a title shot....

Christ, why can't people just get title shots in the division they actually fight in? I know Brook is a victim of the Pacquiao/Mayweather situation, but why not try and fight a guy like Clottey? His level of opposition has hardly earned him a shot in his own weight class let alone light middle.

Maybe it's easier to sling K9 some dough, get him in a nice hotel for a week than it is to grease the wheels of the WBO machine to get some sort of interim or vacant shot against Jones? The WBO seem to have already made Pac their "super" champ anyway.

Nope.

FW wants a title for Brook, seems the easiest option to me.

It's wrong on a number of levels but I doubt FW cares little for Rhodes these days, those days are long gone now as was evidenced when he found out by reading on the internet that other fighters had been parachuted in front of his WBC ranking etc etc.
