I tip my hat to Matthew Hatton

I have to say that though Matthew got outpunched by Alvarez I was very impressed with the toughness and mental strength of Hatton. He was really up against it and had thousands of fans screaming for the other man; it seemed pretty hostile. Alvarez is a terrific prospect and Matthew did himself proud. He took some real whacks and kept on trying. Made a fan out of me. :box: What a game man.

I agree a sterling performance in the circumstances, took a beating but came away with dignity and his reputation enhanced for his efforts.

Were you watching from behind your settee Mr Harrison?

What his brother wouldn't have given to have a 119-108 versus Pacman.

I doubt he would give anything major for that.

The funny thing was Alvarez was a lot better then I previously thought! Hat ton despite doing worse then I'd originally thought he would showed absolute grit in there plus very good survival skills! Every credit to him he should be dead proud a lot of world class fighters would have wilted under that level of pressure

never really liked hatton, but fair play he hung in their showed a lot of heart an mental strengh to get through the fight, how about him v watson for the british and vacant european title would be a big draw in manchester plus its achance to avenge a career defeat, and if he can bear watson then look to fight the likes of berto

Ye fair play to Hatton real gutsy effort. Have to admit Alvarez really impressed me, his composure, punch picking, combination punching, affective aggression, working in with the jab and of course body shots. He really has improved with every fight I've seen him and I do think he's got a really bright future so Matthew can hold his chin up high (not in the ring though)

36 odd fights at 20 years of age. This kid will only get stronger, better, and wiser !

Never a fan of Mathew Hatton, but he won my respect in this fight. He showed a lions heart, and not to bad skills either!

Have to say it though, i think Alvarez will prove to be overated, and Hatton against any of the elite at 147 is not only serious mis-match material, but totally undeserved, yet again.

I think alvarez will lose to the big dogs in the division

It's funny that people are making out as though Hatton proved all the doubters wrong, as though Alvarez was the P4P no.1 in the world. Fact is, despite the WBC title has been gifted with, the guy is still only a prospect himself - and would most likely get eaten alive by the big guys in his division right now (i.e. Cintron, Martinez & Angulo). I'd like to see Alvarez in with somebody like Joel Julio next. I can't see Hatton having a chance against any of the top Welterweights or even against any of the top Light Welters stepping up a division. Hatton has done very well to get where he has - but he has had far more opportunity than most given the fame of his brother. He is an average fighter, very limited. There are journey men out there toughing it out and surviving week in week out against bigger, stronger, more talented opponents. It's not unheard of in this sport. Hatton was game throughout and he deserves some credit for trying from start to finish, but that's as far as it should go.
