One of my favourites to watch. This happens only too often.

Oh man, I cannot believe what I have seen. I never liked him in his prime, but I do not wish that to happen to anybody, not even my worst enemy. It is sad to see him that way. He was spectacular inside the ring in his prime. He gave prime Antonio Cervantes, a man, a boxing lesson being he only 17 years old!

Sad story. But I wonder how many people in this world would accept this fate if only they could have been as great as he was. Before anyone laughs at this comment, consider what today's modern athletes knowingly do to themselves with steroids etc.

I saw a poll once where they asked minor league baseball players if they would willingly die 30 years sooner than they would otherwise have in exchange for being an all-time great ballplayer. Most said they would.

Suffering the side effects of steroids is nothing compared to being in the state Benitez is in. He has the mindset of a 5 year old, can barely stand, has no memory of who he is, can't go to the bathroom unassisted, and can't communicate well. He was great, the one thing I don't understand is, since he was such a defensive wizard, and was seldom hit, how did he end up so damaged?

Everyone gets hit. Throughout a long career with lots of sparring even the best get hit so much that these things happen. Why Benitez and not Chuvalo or Foreman? Who knows, maybe genetics?

Benitez was so very young & he acquired great wealth & fame at such a young age. His Father could & should have, handled things, particularly his son's Finances, better! I guess being so young, it was like Winning lottery for Wilfred & he thought the money wouldn't stop!

Its very sad to see him today, how he is. What a Great fighter he was, but by the age of 25, which is a year older than me, his best years were behind him!

My thoughts are with him & his family!

What a truely great fighter he was! His performance against Roberto Duran was immense, the way he feinted throughout fights was amazing, his defence and jab were superb! He was an overall special fighter and this Is a real shame seeing things like this

Only consolation is he looks happy and doesnt have much mass wastage.

I guess he needs compnay all the time.
