Good luck to Lenny, I really hope he can bring the belt back to Australia. Vasquez is no easy win though and he will have to earn it.
It would really set up the Best Aussie Vs Aussie matchup in a long time. Zappa Vs Katsidis would be a cracking fight.

Hi guys,
I'm over in Vegas with Lenny and the team and just thought I'd let everyone know that the order of fights has changed and Lenny's fight will be the first televised.

agree, but i saw an interview not so long ago, that he basically said not interested. on grounds of not wanting to ruin another aussie's career. i think i saw it posted on here TBH. if i could remember where i saw it i would post the link.

Anson Wainwright - Is a fight with Katsidis possible or are you good friends? How big do you think that fight would be?
Lenny Zappavigna - No, we’ve chosen our path and he’s got his. It would be a shame to destroy two great Australian fighters like they did with Lester Ellis and Barry Michaels. Why destroy two great Australian fighters?

Lenny is probably down 5-0 at this stage. Vasquez' style is difficult to deal with.

Press row see it a lot differently. They have it 57-57 twice and 58-56 Zappa. There have been some close rounds, but I think those scores are a little off.

I have it 78-74 Vasquez after 8.

Zappa's eye is a bloody mess. The tenth was close and hard to score.

i have it 9-1 vasquez. All zappa is doing is getting his head jabbed off and throwing airswings. I dont know what those press idiots are watching if one of them has him up. Has zappa ever been taught a jab?

Lenny outboxed tonight. I have it 117-112 Vasquez.
Lenny will need a lot of help from the judges.

Scores 117-111, 118-110 twice
All for Vasquez

It's not the end of the world. Lenny should learn from the experience.

he was almost trying too hard at times. should have tried to slow up a bit and make the guy come to him a bit more. he just didn't have the experience to get to such a slick boxer properly.
thats what happens when u have too many inexperienced opponents on your resume. all of a sudden he's gone from several opponents who r not overly skilled boxers, to a really slick world class mexican boxer.
no harm done. he'll learn alot from it and continue to do very good on the big stage imo.

Who watched and who didn't?
I thought he done well, he didn't get beaten by much, and thought that Vazquez just did enough(maybe a punch or 2 more a round more).
Agree Buster he did try too hard, but the clash of heads early in the fight didn't help and if anyone watched the IBO fight, he doesn't fight well with cuts.
As the analysts were saying he looked very good in defeat and that Lenny should only consider this as measuring stick. He can take a lot from this fight and i will say that when you hurt someone to the body early continue on going to the body cause Lenny had him wincing from the body shots early but threw too many Haymakers from then on.
Very slick boxer is Vasquez, but not really a crowd pleaser, however he gets the job done.
Hold your head up Zappa, you've done yourself and this country proud, I'm proud to call myself a fan
