Yeah good KO by Grant, he may get a big fight out of it. There's not alot of big guys coming out of America, and Grant did give Adamek a scare, i thought that fight could of gone to him.

He's had his chance, and got shown up when he tried to take it. Lennox whipped him.

Grant doesn't belong at the top level. He'd get mullered by the Klits and Haye.

so would 95% of the other heavies , if they have not been already. He is always going to be a KO or be KO'd fighter now. But maybe put him in an eliminator with Chris Arreola, see what he gets

I don't disagree. It just annoys me that the HW is so poor, that everything seems rehashed from about 10 years back

Yep not much out there at heavy, Grant always strikes me as top heavy, he seems to have skinny legs compared to the rest of his build.

Grant V Arreola would be decent fireworks.. Adamek V Mormeck is also intriguing ;)

I have a strange fascination with these nearly guys from the states.

Maurice Harris is #1 but Michael Grant has a touch of the Floyd Patterson's about him, a sort of vulnerability which makes me always look out for his result when he's fighting.

Strange.

Mo' Harris! There's a name to conjure with! I always liked him 'cos he kinda reminded me of someone from the 70s/80s, Pedro Lovell or someone (probably not Pedro Lovell), but just of that time when guys were admittedly 6' 4"/6' 5" but only weighed like fifteen & a half stone...

I would like to be the first to start the "Come back Derreck Jefferson, all is forgiven" fan-club, & beat the drum for the man's ultimate showdown with Ed Mahone. Mahone, Mo' Harris, Gerard Nobles, Mikey Grant, Dominick Guinn, Jefferson: throw in Big Bad John McD, & Audrey & that's a Prizefighter I'd pay to watch!

Also: shall we start a sweepstakes to see how long Malik Scott sits on that unbeaten record in the hope that he gets fed to someone, or what?

Datsu,

Maurice has just begun another comeback and this time he doesn't weigh 19stone.

Be still my beating heart!

Seriously, though, I do share your predilection for the, uh, tragic appeal of American nearly-men heavies. I mean, I used to love watching (yeah I know Brit-born) Alex Stewart & Bert Cooper & Mike "The Bounty" Hunter (RIP) back in the day, so it probably started there...

What was the name of that Mexican-American heavy who was protected as fcck, who was supposed to fight Bowe or Foreman but they let Mike Dixon have a crack in a tune-up & he got done in like two rounds? Then he lost to Garing Lane or someone & disappeared, forever...

@David:

Yes, that's him!

Alex Garcia. Apparently he fought on for ages after the wheels came off against Dixon & Lane, & even fought Joe Hipp!

Joe Hipp!

I am going into paroxysms of nostalgic bliss over here, I tells ya.

I'm with you chaps on the fringe Heavyweight obsession

Lest we forget

Jeremy Williams, Derek Bryant, Charles Shufford, David Bostice, Lance 'Goofi' Whitaker. So many soldiers...

Or anyone who beat Louis Monaco.

If I wasn't meant to be working & I had access to such materials & I knew how to use a computer editing suite, I tells ya I would put together one of those Youtube "Tribute" video-things to the glory of nearly-were/never-was Yankee heavies of the past, say, twenty years.

"So Many Soldiers..." has such a nice ring to it, much nicer than the name I came up with: "Cocaine: A Hell of a Drug."

It's a brilliant idea. You could have different chapters - The Jeri-curl killers, Bitch-tits but dangerous, When tomato-cans attack - the upset reel.

Let's form a club!

I tell you, this has the sheer weight of inevitability about it (i.e. much the same weight as Levi Billups' head).

The upset reel title made me spray coffee out all over my keyboard & I have had to invent having a cold to cover my sudden bout of hilarity. Cheers for that.

It's comforting to know that there are others with my condition. I thought I was the only person out there who habitually checks the Boxrec records every 3 months to see if Courage Tshabalala has made another comeback.

Enjoy your coffee.

All this talk is going to make me throw Darroll "Doin' Damage" Wilson into the mix.

Darroll Wilson! Great shout! The Briggs-killer!

Tshabalala-Wilson is the Foreman-Lyle of the never-weres. Plus a Tyson-Douglasesque long count.

Wilson was good fun to watch, he just had no chin.

He made the Blue Horizon his own for a while.
