I'm writing an open letter to the IBF President, and I'm trying to track down a piece of the puzzle.

According to Reid's management, going into the 6th round, staggeringly all 3 judges had Reid behind by between 2-4 rounds, which really if it is true proves to me beyond doubt that the judging was totally crooked. The excuse that the judges were swayed by the crowd won't wash, as the crowd had no successes to cheer from Ottke.

What I'm wondering, I seem to recall that there was a website which showed fight scorecards, or perhaps I am imaginging things, presumably scorecards should be available for perusal from the governing body?

The IBF website is fornicating useless, no email contacts provided whatsoever, only a phone number.

Have you tried the WBA route?

Saddoboxing.com has a scorecard section, though I was unable to access it.
Another site, the sweetscience.com, also has a scorecards' facility, but again, for some reason, I couldn't access it. Hope you have better luck.

Isn't it a bit off when two titles are on the line, that one of the sanctioning bodies appoints all of the judges and the referees.

Interesting stat I picked up from a Danish boxing website, which goes some way to explaining the neccesity of the result going in favour of Ottke.

The Sven Ottke v Robin Reid drew almost 8 million viewers on ZDF in Germany, which represent a market share of 40,6 %.

Yes, I saw that on the WBA Europe website. Ottke always draws astonishing figures, but that IS astonishing.

I'm not sure of the validity but i heard Reid was 3 down going into the 6th, of course it's all flying rumours until you actually find out for certain. The officials are corrupt IMO there's no two ways about it. Look at Beyer-Lucas, Beyer didn't land a punch in anger for the first 4 rounds yet some judges had him up by 3 going into the 5th, watch that fight please and tell me how that scoring can be justified? Even the "Objective Viewpoint" argument cannot wash with me on this one, there is no "Objective" it's plain and simple...you don't land meaningful punches then you don't score points and thus...you don't win the round!

Take Lolenga Mock-Kai Kurzawa, Kurzawa took a UD. Anyone who watches that fight will see that the up and coming next German hope was not going to lose to an African journeyman who has no clout to complain. Mock totally dominated from the outside making the German look static and one dimensional (Doesn't sound like a German does it?!) Eurosport's Steve Holdsworth had it 7-1 on rounds and i had it 8-0 all to Mock! I e mailed Holdsworth afterwards and he said he had tons of e mails saying the same, so it's not just me seeing the injustices. All 3 judges in that fight were German as well by the way

I've heard the same things about German judges and I am no expert or historian. Though i noticed that Mads Larsen of Denmark did get the decision recently against Danilo Häussler and the fight was in Germany. I did not see the fight and I would not compare it to Ottke-Reid. I guess just proof that is possible for a foreigner to win on points there.

Please write a letter to the IBF about the officiating, but for me the scorecards were valid and fine.

I know its sad that Reid didn't win, but I haven't seen a boxrec poster writing to the IBF concering the Johnson vs Woods result.

For me, that was a worse decision.

Stu, have you actually seen the scorecards? Do you agree with a scorecard which had Reid 3 down going into the 6th? How would this be possible.

The main problem I have is with the refereeing in any case, and there is no way you can tell me the same thing happened in the Woods v Johnson fight.

I also thought Johnson was robbed, and I really hope he gets the decision this time around if he wins the fight.

Absolutely, the ref in Reid fight was incompitent and you have my full support over that one.

No, I haven't seen the Reid vs Ottke score cards, all I was merely stating is that the final cards were not that bad (the 115-113 cards). Yes, it would need some sort of investigation if Reid was 3 rounds down after 6, but I would labell that judge incompitent rather than corrupt (as he must have scored some of the latter rounds to Reid as opposed to Ottke).

Personally, I just think it was a bit of "gee up" tactics by Bryan Hughes, maybe I'm wrong.

i had reid a pretty clear winner can't remember my exact score now but i thought he definitely deserved the nod. of the first 6 rds i only gave ottke a share of one so for the judges to have him up at that time is well dodgy.

reid deserves a rematch but u can bet ya bottom dollar he won't get one, i'm just thinking who out there hasn't fought ottke and would beat him there's not many left this guy has fluked his way thru the lot of em :x just retire ottke your boring every1.
