"Vicious" Vivian Harris has pulled out of his WBA light-welterweight title defence against Oktay Urkal on January 10 in Berlin. He claims he has a cyst on his right hand. The truth is, Harris is having managerial problems and hasn't been training regularly at Gleason's gym in New York.

In some ways I can't blame him, he was almost definitely facing a points defeat, justified or not.

I've never seen Vivian Harris fight, is he any good? The win over Soloman M'Baye was a decent one on the record. As for Urkal well...he is very unprofessional and negative as he showed against Eamonn Magee. He is though a talented guy and he even gave Tszyu problems in there fight, didn't he win a silver at the olympics or something like that?

Urkal won the silver medal in the 63.5kg class at the '96 olympics after losing 20-13 to Hector Vincent from Cuba in the final.

Harris out 5 weeks!
WBA jr welterweight champion Vivian Harris (23-1-1, 16 KO’s) began physical therapy last Friday and is expected to be able to resume training in five weeks. Dr John McGee of Advance Medical has scheduled Harris to undergo an MRI today for a ganglionic cyst on his right hand. "I’m very disappointed that I will not be able to defend my title on Jan 10. I wanted to show the German people why I am the best jr welterweight in the world. I look forward to re-scheduling the Urkal fight, perhaps as early as late February," said Harris according to a published statement released by Main Events. Sauerland Events and Main Events have begun discussions on a re-scheduling the bout.

This is the 2nd Sauerland main event falling through after 22 nov, Beyer-Lucas II(Urkal-Bielski was promoted to main event) in two months time
