Anyone fancy Solis's chances against Vitali tomorrow? Got to be worth a look....................

Definitely worth a butchers - Solis is lighter than he has been for a while.

Solis has talent, but he hasn't had anyone hurt him yet in the pro ranks. How he reacts to that is one of the keys to the fight. If Vitali can put some hurt on him early and Solis goes into his shell then its fight over. If Solis takes the shots and comes at Vitali then he could break the older guy down and force him to fight at a pace he doesn't like.

I had £20 at 5/1 just for a bit of interest..

I really do see Solis winning, he's fast enough to expose Vit's slow feet and keep him moving see he can't get set. Solis can counterpunch and lead so I see him working of tge jab and moving before Vitali gets set to throw and then get the combinations rolling! I think he can win on a decision

He's in terrible shape, 246lbs (his heaviest in 5 if I'm not mistaken) is not good.

You couldn't be more mistaken. At 246, he's the lightest he's ever been in his pro career.

He still looks like a fat knacker though. The biggest night of his career and he can't get into proper shape.

Unfortunately Solis still looks rediculously soft at this weight.

Barring Vitali's body breaking down this will be a replica of Klitchsko - Arreola.

Solis looks heavy but not blubbery. I think too much is being read into the weight issue. It's not as if he's suddenly ballooned in weight. Some fighters are comfortable with a bit of fat like Mason and Tony Tubbs and they can still fight at a good pace with good stamina. I think Solis will be dangerous and i've lobbed a tenner on him at 5/1.

Can't see past Vitali in this one. Solis was a great a amateur but I haven't seen anything since he turned pro to make me think he'll beat VK.

I got 11-1 on Solis winning points/stopage at Paddy Power. After the weigh in Im feeling quietly optimistic!

Vitali aint dropped a unanimous round since his return. Wheras I really don't get Solis.

According to David Price, one day he was extraordinary , with deft shot selection, clever moves and excellent footwork.

But the next day, he was asbolutely barely average....bordering on crap.

Consistency is so important in this match up - and whilst Solis threatens to put the full package together for every round... Vitali always does do without fail.

I always think about the last Olympic gold medalist to challenge for a title and cringe.

Getting more excited now. Just popped another tenner on Solis with the odds at Sportingbet unchanged at 5/1. Solis is a cold-blooded hunter.

Solis does not have the self discipline to be a sucessful prizefighter. The shape he is in is an embarrassment to himslef and Boxing.

So he was a decent Amatuer, so what. Amatuer Boxing has had no resembelence to real Boxing for at least 15 years. It is more like fencing now.

Solis will find himslef in deep trouble within two or three rounds and will be stopped within 5. If by some miracle he lasts any longer he will suffer a frightful beating from a champion who has no peer amongst the current crop of Heavyweights.

Agree 100% with this. I'll be gutted if Solis wins - someone in that sort of 'condition' should not be representing the biggest title in sports.

I would normally agree with you,but the Solis-Haye bout was nothing like fencing.

Its not a body beautiful competition. I reckon he'll give a good run for his money. Ive gone for a few quid on an early stoppage by the challenger!

Solis puts together magnificent passages of boxing at his best - fluid combos, deft feints, neat little moves. And then the other guy moves out of range and he plods after them waiting for a chance to do it all again. Unless Vitali's gotten old, he won't get that chance; he'll have that ramrod jab in his face and a right hand to follow before he can get his shots off, and Vitali'll be gone by then. I have to disagree with Mr. Paterson on this fight - Vitali's a mobile fighter with excellent footwork who's only really looked slow after a few rounds of war with Lewis or for a couple of rounds against Gonzalez before his superior size and strength ground the smaller man down - and that's what's going to happen here.

I really fancied Kevin Johnson to pose Vitali serious problems. The impression I was left with was that Johnson hadn't shown up that night, the result being lacklustre and far from what he seemed capable of beforehand.

Either that's the case, or Vitali's just deceptively hard to deal with.

I've got that same strong feeling about Solis that I had about Johnson, flabby or not he's looked an absolute monster in every fight I've seen him in, even the ones which went the distance, he still leathered his opponents from pillar to post.

So, as far as gut feelings go, I fancy Solis to pull the upset here.

It's not a fight to bet on for me. If it were Wlad that Solis had drawn, I'd be all over it. Vitali's a different matter though, If I was forced to place a bet, it wouldn't be on Solis, despite the odds.

(There, hopefully that guarantees a Solis win ;;-) )

I've had a score on, Phil, though the 5s has gone now.

VK has got old, I think and a live challenger might cause him a few problems. 9/2 is too big, I think.
