Manchester's Michael Brodie has been given home advantage for his rematch with Korean Injin Chi for the vacant WBC featherweight title. Barry Hearn has just won the purse bids in Mexico City. The contest will take place in Brodie's home city of Manchester in late March or early April.

Chi must be wondering what he has to do to get a break!

Maybe Brodie will stick to the body-punching this time and stop him! (Maybe not!)

Well thats some good news. This is surely going to be one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of 2004. Before the first one I was so worried about Brodie lasting the course with such a hard man but he's more than proven himself now.

Even though Chi deserved to get the nod last time you know the predictions are going to be split for the rematch.

They shouldn't be - I'd make Chi a pretty strong favourite (Barring the judges, referee, sanctioning body etc.)

Even though he only really won the first fight by a couple of rounds? Brodie probably worked a bit too hard at the beginning, if he paces it better next time he could win a tough but clear decision. He certainly aint getting knocked out thats for sure.

Thats good for Brodie as i think he needs the home support at his stage of carrer.Good luck Mikey

I just feel that Brodie is/was ALWAYS one punch away from disaster!

I'd like him to win but would be surprised - he had his chance, hurt Chi (which I thought was impossible) and couldn't finish the job - I don't see him getting another.

To be honest, Chi defo won the last one, and I think he'll win tis one too.

Good on Barry Hearn, he must have paid decent money to get the rematch, as I think Chi is a a big star in Korea isn't he? You'd imagine the Koreans were bidding high for the rematch.

A 50/50 fight yet again.

I fear Brodie will not be able to do anything different, unless he perhaps paces himself better.

But bar that, Chi UD is on the cards.

I really don't know who to pick, if Brodie was 25 and didn't have the wars he's already put on the clock I would fancy him quite strongly in the return. I think he will learn from the last fight. People have said about pacing himself, I disagree. I think if he would have gone for the body attack in the early rounds, like how he faught in the middle rounds and put Chi on the back foot, then Chi wouldn't have damaged and hurt him so badly earlier one which effected his stamina late on in the fight.

He can't afford to pace himself, if he lets Chi dictate things then he will lose... He needs to fight like he did in the middle rounds all the time. A good start and he should have the stamina to hold on in the end.

However, is he capable of the good start, that was an aging fight for both guys, but I can't help thinking that Brodie has more miles on the clock than Chi.

I am on the fence at this moment.

The Queen should knight Jose Sillyman for the way he has favored Brodie.
What with the card tricks in the first fight & the voodoo rules regulations ruling on the bids ‘n all.
Ol Frankie must be livid the way the WBC has sucked up to Hearn.

Now Brodie gets less money, but gets to fight at home. 8)
Maybe Frank can loan him Micky Vann for a referee and Willy can send one of his Judges.
U could get Eugenia Williams on a lend lease from the New Jersey Commission if the price is right.

He better prepare, because Chi is gona be coming in an awfully bad mood.

My prediction?
Chi stops Brodie & leaves no doubt :( , but gets disqualified.

(Don’t mind me ; I’m just trollin in a “blue” mood after peeking at the new BoxRec ratings.)

The problem Brodie had and will have is that he has to fight at a hectic
pace in order to keep Chi off him, and he simply won't be able to maintain
that pace throughout the whole fight.

I anticipate if that Brodie starts faster, he gets stopped late on, and if
he leaves it too late, he will absorb too much punishment.

I think Chi will win it clearly this time, judges allowing.

I think he can do it.
Brodie looked like he was shitting himself during the ringwalk and the refs instructions, that may have contributed to the bad start.
I personally don't have any problem with the draw, despite scoring it by two to Chi the first time. I'm a fan of Brodie and nerves play a part when you see it live, watching it back I give it to Chi by one not counting the absurd point deduction, the rule is a joke and so is the referee as according to that rule Chi should have had the point taken off since it was Brodie who was cut. A draw therefore was fair. I actually think Brodie took an awful lot out of Chi, the late rounds that the Korean won were ones in which Brodie did almost nothing. Brodie should do some heavy body work early in the return, but take it slow every now and then and just aim to steal the round intermittently.
50/50 fight IMO, I think Brodie outboxing Chi would be tougher than some do, Chi can box. I've seen him fight Morales and Brodie (watch round 1)and when he wants to he can box, his jab is great-a real ramrod, he just doesn't have the mentality to refrain from brawling.
