degale dont really know how to conduct himself. to be fair groves has been going public harping on about defail etc. & obviously degale has been listening & wants to put him in his place. degale is rylled up which aint good & groves has turnt into a mouse & it doesnt seem his plan to wind degale up.at the back of his mind he prob thought it would never happen.

Some of my customers are casual boxing viewers and like DeGale; his brashness/cockiness. I'm not convinced he's a nasty or mean spirited man. He's got a lot of faith in his abilities and he's not shy in front of a camera. Where it matters; in the ring; DeGale has shown he can back himself up. Against Smith, in an intimidating setting, he showed a lot of composer. George Groves is also very talented and comes across as being a bit more aware that he's not a star; whereas DeGale seems to believe he is.
I much prefer how Groves came across on Ringside. I do think though; that DeGale has a keen eye on the boxers that have been successful and made a lot of money. I imagine in private he is far more circumspect.

He needs to give up on the current persona he's trying to carve out for himself, its just not working for him!
He comes across like he's trying so hard to be arrogant and witty, but he's piss poor at smack talk and is warming himself to nobody. To be fair to him, at least he's getting the arrogant part right!

I don't think DeGale has the quick wit & vocabulary of Naz, Eubank etc..
Anyway, Controversy Creates cash. It just does not feel right though for some reason. Maybe stopping that silly victory dance will be a start.

DeGale has alot smack, mostly its an act and not a very good one. However, he is probably alittle too fast for Groves and I think thats going to be the difference.
He will hit Groves more and faster than Groves can hit him, unless Booth and Groves can conjure up something.

Americans love that shit tho. And that crappy way he raises one arm when his name gets announced, Yanks absolutely lap that shit up, it's not enough for an American to just do something they have to attach some stupid line/signature move onto it all WWF style.
Thing is it's clearly an act what he is doing, the pair of them were playing the game. After the fight barring real controversy they will be respectful with each other in the post fight interviews. Then once Degale goes on to take the Americans on he will royally piss them off and we will no doubt all love him because he is winding them up so much.

I thought he'd realised before that the act wasn't working for him and had given it up after getting booed earlier on in his career? Shame he acts like a silly little boy, I think he'd be really well liked if he didn't.

He fought Paul Smith in his 9th fight and Groves most likely in his 11th, and from what I've heard trains like a demon. That's a good enough attitude for me. I'm following his career not inviting him for a dinner party. Worst in boxing? You've got to be kidding.

I very much doubt americans will warm to degale,he has that kind of slapping style that calzaghe was hated by the yanks for having!

I wish he was at the same weight and the same era as James Toney, he'd have shown him how to do it!

For hardened boxing fans, we can be a little precious can't we??
Blimey, all he's doing in mouthing off for the cameras to sell a fight. I'm sure Groves is not bedding down at night in tears over the hate spilling from the dastardly Degales potty mouth!! These are two professional guys who are in the business to sell tickets; one is the good guy, one the bad and an angle is created. They both have intelligent promotional units behind them who have a history of creating financial silk purses from apparent sows ears. If you are really getting offended by some harmless banter, then you are truly watching the wrong sport.
If you want a true guide on Degales attitude watch him at ringside during fights where he happily poses for photos, chats to fans and signs autographs. Also check out the class that both guys will show following the fight - I can guarantee that if Degale wins he won't be "I beat the ugly kid good", it'll be much more respectful along the lines of "He gave me a tough fight, he can hurt and I respect him for stepping in the ring"

Excellent post, I agree with every word of it.

Worst attitude in boxing? Seriously?
As people have already said, he trains hard, looks for the biggest & best fights out there and is already a British champion. I've never heard of him turning down autograph or photo requests and he's appearing in all types of print promoting the sport and getting it good coverage.
I think a few others could do with having a look at how Degale conducts himself
